BS, this is some made up nonsense. Cat won't have a new engine for several years. They just released the 800DSI, it takes years to get through the emissions approvals. It wouldn't make sense they would have to be developing a 800 & 900 at the same time.

I don't see a new engine coming out for 2020 either but i have been told from very reliable sources that 3 variations of this engine where developed at the same time, remember the DOO 850 was already out when the ctec 800 was in development, so safe to say they are well aware of its obsoleteness before it was even released.

This all stems from a garbage post on facebook. The guy who originally posted it is just doing so to get people going, NONE of it is true, sorry to be the bearer of disappointing news.

^^^you could very well be correct, don't know other than fb chatter...we'll know one way or another before too long.....one thing for sure is perceived need to be competitive by the manufacturers drive them to do things we don't expect, sales or lack thereof causes competition, why else would poo call their 840 an 850 ? because they didn't want to make an engine smaller than doo...certainly cat has known for at least 3 years of the 850 from doo, and could have easily developed a bb based on 800 ctec.....anyway, this this is the time of the year for rumors....:face-icon-small-hap

The ones that know aren't talking and the ones that are talking don't know so his sources aren't solid either

Haha, check my posts. I've never made one that wasn't accurate. Also, that's why I'm willing to say what's not happening as opposed to what is happening.

Maybe you know. All I know is that I don't know. It probably would take a bigger motor with electric start and raised chassis to get me to snow check. Otherwise I'll just boost what I have. The funny thing is a few extra cc's isn't that big of a deal but most people buy by the numbers. I learned my lesson on a 05 rt1000. Power is easy to remedy. Handling is not.

agreed... and what you are able to do with that power (driveline efficiency, track efficiency) makes a significant difference as well.

I heard/ started the rumor that it is a 136" tunnel with a 175" track....
No more clutch spring or weights in the primary too. It's electric viscos controlled limitless variable but is Altitude auto adjusting!

AND a 340cc ctec for for an intermediate aged rider

A primary clutch will function with no spring in it. It's cool. I tried it so it must be cool.
