bottom end 440/ 600 swap

hi guys i need help i want to put a 600 crank in the 440 bottom end with 600 cylinders because then i could run airbox and it would make everything easier and fit right but what do iuse for carb boots to fit rack carbs or do i run 440 crabs jetted like a 600? help

The '05 and older 440's are just a 600 case that has been milled shorter to copliment the shorter rods. So the older boots and rack carbs will go right on. The newer 600 race engines are based on the CFI crankcase.

its an 2001 crank from a ves motor thats going into the 2005 iq 440 cases the intake , reeds and boots are different on the 2005 cases so the 2001 carb boots reads wont go on there smaller. does anyone make a carb boots for this application

Be aware that the changed the gear ratio on the water / oil pump drive also between those years so you will need to swap to the older water pump drive. The '05 is the newer HO dirived case. The 440 is still a shorter deck hight so you will need to shim the cylinders up to get the port timing right. You will need the pre CFI 600 carb boots and rack carbs if desired. Although the center to center did not change from VES engines to HO the reeds got larger. Hope this helps

I don't remember off the top of my head. Hopefully someone will chime in on that. There were a lot of shops building short rod 600's back when people were throwing away the 440 bottom ends.
