What about Pilot jets & slides?

Mine is stock 55 w/ 1.5 slides. I read some guys are running pilots as low as 30 @ elevation 9-12k.

I'm also thinking of changing slides to 2.0 @ the same elevation w/ my 02 needles.

Who knows what the pilots & slides are for the 02, 03 & 04 800's

I read that the 02's had a more aggressive timing curve, thereby needing the larger mains. I have an 03 engine and 03 CDI with 02 carbs. I have a gutted airbox, SLP high-flow, ported cases, 21-41 gearing, and I'm looking a tiny bit fat with 560's. This is the Mikuni Rack-slides FYI too... NOT the Keheins.
Granted this sled started as an Edge X 700, now it's stretched to a 144.

i think that gearing plays a part as well. i run 19/43 gearing so it loads the motor less and requires less fuel

Look it up on Babbitts online, they will show all stock pilots and slides. xc models came with 1.5 and 55 in 02 My o4 prox came with 45 and 1.5's

You pretty much just give it what it wants, read the plugs wash, and what the throttle response is like.

At low elevation, I run

45 pilots, 02 needle in 3rd maybe 2nd + .020, 1.5 slides, boost bottle 540 mains.

Whats your sled doing right now that your tring to change?

whats wrong with the 02 airbox?

I don't know for sure, but my 02 edge, gutted box, piped and ported was a nightmare to jet, i put a xcr800 tripple in it, had problems with jetting and big staggering of jetting. I don't know if its a a airflow problem with the shape of it or what. In stock form its allright with shelf and stock engine. I had problems when all gutted and flowrights, airhorn, piped and ported. Who knows for sure.

Jay is right, but the difference is in the short track models.

02-05 RMK used 4.5 pilot and 2.0 cutaway.

SnoWest is generally a mountain sled sight so most of us refer to the mountain sleds and thats where our knowledge is based.

Technically hes wrong, there is no mention of RMK in his statement.

I kinda figured he was talking about rmk's.

My sled has little to no low end snap to it. Screams in the mid & upper RPMs but low end throttle response.

After seeing the 02-04 RMKs have 2.0 slides stock, Im thinking I should go to 2.5's

My needles appear to be 9DFH10-57. Is there such a needle or did i read it wrong & its a 9DFH-57?

Sorry, guess I should have said RMK's, the guy was stuck for an answer and I was just trying to help.

"My needles are 9DFH10-57 out of an Arctic Cat. Is there a chart that lists all the needles & how they differ from a 9DFH-57 or other needles?"

looks like their the same just a different serial #

needles vs jetting

Put the 2.0 slides in & that made a good improvement on the low end. On a long pull @ WOT the plugs look good but now the mid seems a little fat. The EGTs are only in the 900's in the mid range & maybe only 1050 @ WOT. I'm going to move the needle from #3 to #2 to clean up the mid. Will leaning the mid have any effect on WOT? I'm wondering if I should jet up I size when I lean out the mid.
