If you ride an Edge you really ought to buy the temp bypass resistor from SLP and carry it in your tool kit. It is very handy for diagnosing temp sensor issues... if you think maybe you have a problem you just plug it in to bypass the sensor and then you know.

That would be a good idea, However the edge is going down the road and the Axys is coming into the stable :eyebrows:

Hi, would you explain how this bypass thermostat works and how it would help reduce overheating? My 2003 Escape even with an after market u-cooler overheats at times.

It completely blocks the bypass circuit once warmed to keep engine temps lower (stock tstat does not block the bypass circuit and allows warm coolant going back into the engine). The 800 needs this because of no coolant passage over the exhaust port. This stat keeps it In the 120-130 range.
