togwotee riding area north side of road form brooks lake to togwotee and two mountain area

There will be a public comment period for the proposed future use of this area. There will be comments heard from forest users concerning the potential restriction of snowmobile use of Two Ocean Mountain and areas north of the highway (Breccia Cliff Area). This is the final meeting and a decision will be made by the Forest Service.

All users, including riders that generally use Togwotee and may not ride in the more technical areas mentioned, are urged to attend the meeting. If you are not heard, don't plan on riding the area mentioned in the future.

The back country skiiers that are promoting this action, are well organized and have done a good job on commenting and lobbying the Forest Service. The snowmobile community has been way to complacent and need to organize to combat this attack on multi use of Federal Lands.

The meeting is at 6:00 p.m., February 13, at the Dubois High School (Wyoming). Hope you can attend to voice a united front against this injustice.

Update!!! Thanks to our strong snowmobiling band of brothers(This includes EVERYONE), a special thanks to all that attended the February 2013 meeting in Dubois, our hard working county commissioners, and all others who have spent countless hours with support, the new forest plan has passed that will still include snowmobiling in the Two Oceans area(not sure about the other areas of Togwotee) for the next 20 years:whoo:
On another note, we did lose a small portion of prime riding in the upper Beartooth region...supposedly relating to winter feeding grounds for elk and moose?WTH!
Last note but great news!!! Hopefully by the 2015 riding season Yellowstone National Park should possibly be open for snowmobiling use to the public once again! Nothing set in stone on this topic yet but the plan is for a certain number of riders eligible thru certain gates of Y.N.P. on a daily basis. Personal sled use is okay...not sure if 2 stroke and 4stroke are both eligible. Emissions and noise decibel will be enforced. The plan is for any one person in each group to hop online and take a safety/guide test. If he/she passes the test requirements(easy test!), just print it off and he/she is able to guide the group of people thru the park! Once again, this topic is still in debate but is supported very strongly by Governor Mead and others. Once I am able to gather more great news on this topic I will post for all. Thanks for reading!!!

My group was just at tog last week and rode the Two Oceans area one of the days. Loved it. Also made it up to Austin's Peak (11200). A must do on a when the weather and visibility is good.
