I am just finishing up the skinny board installation and now I see they didn't come with any traction screws. I think they should be 1/4" hex head screws but, is there a specific type of screw that I need to find? It looks like i will need 50-70 screws?

Yup. I'm installing mine now too. They came with everything. A bag of traction screws, two bags of rivets and bag of bolts.

I just tore my shop apart again looking for the running board screws and can't find them. I even dumped my garbage can and I still don't see them. I guess I will dig some more tomorrow. If I can't come up with screws, what size shank and what length screws do I need to buy? I see there are 6 x 3/8", 6 x 1/2", 8 x 3/8", 8 x 1/2".

Since my sled is orange, I am looking at screws like this, are they the right type?

If you got boards without screws, get them from B&M, not ebay. :face-icon-small-hap

If you're going to pay for screws, I'd get something like some allen heads that don't tear up your boots as much.

The screws are #8 or #10 with a tall head. Just get BM to send a new bag of 100.

Thank you for the picture! That helps a lot! I want to ride next Friday and would need the screws before I go, I will call BM to see if they can send me some tomorrow morning. If not, I will go to fastenal and see what I can find. Today I will lay out the grid and drill the holes with a #40 drill bit (3/32") just to have the boards ready to go.

My other issue is the 9/11 clutch cover plate. I am worried that with the side panels sucked in a bit that as the clutch cover spins it will saw a nice round hole right into my side panel. Should I get my heat gun and try to bend the lower cowling out a bit around that area? Or is there a better trick?

dont think id be drillin any holes until all of the screws to fill them were in front of me.
ive used screws from the local hardware store on a couple machines before with success. a little less aggressive then those. im not a fan of fastenal hardware. they snap before tight.
