So I picked up a 17 King Cat last weekend and have a whole 2 miles on it right now. When I picked up the sled I also talked accessories over with the dealer. So far I have found that:

1. My Premium M series cover from my 13 M1100T will fit but the front end has a little looseness from the different spindle setup. Also, the handlebar section of the cover is a little loose as well due to the bars being about 3" lower than on an 1100T. Will be buying a 6.5" riser to replace the 4.5" that is standard and I am only 5'9" tall.

2. I bought a kill switch that was good for the previous 1100T model as they thought it should fit. Well after doing some digging into the sled last night, Cat has a harness on the sled ready to accept a tether that is currently short circuted, but the only issue is the connector is different then the previous model tethers. Now it is a waiting game for Cat to release the proper tether.

A little update on the tether for the new King Cat. I called the dealer back and told him that the current 4 stroke tether would not work. He then talked with others and assured me that its the only tether available and it would work. I sent them pictures showing them it would not work with the current wiring harness on the sled. They then came back and said it looks like Cat will most likely be releasing a new tether but it will not be until the 18's come out when more of these sleds are available. So, for now, I will be modifyting the current tether to work.

Pics and info on how you plan on making it work would be nice. Don't have my King cat yet but when I get it I plan on putting a tether on. TIA!!

Congrats on the new King Cat.
Shoot us some pics when you get a minute. Would love to see one that is not on the factory website.

I am going to install the tether tonight, so I will get some pictures of what I do to get the tether to work.

I also installed a 6.5" riser as the 4.5" was too short for me.

I am leaving for the Bighorns Thursday night to get some break-in miles put on. They are supposed to get around 18" starting today and ending Thursday night. I am going to take some GoPro footage as well.

So I fabricated my tether connection last night and took some pictures. I am not sure how to post a picture and write text then post another picture and write text, so I am going to explain how I did it and then post all of the pictures.

Step 1:

Locate the pre existing tether harness on the snowmobile. This harness is wired into the handlebar harness and is located right above the secondary clutch and zip tied to the main electrical harness. (Picture 1)

Step 2:

Remove the male connection side of the tether harness on the snowmobile. the male connector will have a single wire loop looping back to the connector. It will be a red wire with a purple stripe. (Picture 2)

Step 3:

Cut the wire loop (red wire with purple stripe) in half and strip back the wire enough to accept a heat shrink butt connector. (Picture 2)

Step 4:

Cut the Red and Green wires with the rectangular connectors off of the male harness that comes with the tether kit. Cut these wires as close to the connector as possible. Strip these wires back enough to accept a heat shrink butt connector. (Picture 3 shows the wires needing to be cut off the original tether harness)

Step 5:

Use a heat shrink butt connector (16-22 gauge wire size) to join the Red and Green wires (with the rectangular connectors) to the wire (red with purple strip) that was cut in half on male connector that was removed from the snowmobile. It does not matter which side you connect the Green and Red wires to. (Picture 4) (Picture 5 shows the new connector that was made to install the tether and the connector that was supplied with the tether kit with the Red and Green wires removed)

Step 6:

Drill Tether hole in plastic shroud below the handlebars. You will need a 1/2" drill bit for this.

Step 7:

Install tether and plug wiring together. (Picture 6)
