Trump Petition

Here is what I'd like to petition Trump to do during his first 90 days in office.

1. Return our vented gas cans. These new gas cans introduced in 2009 SUCK. My brother ran out of gas last night and it took 12 minutes to put 2 gallon into the gas tank and 1/2 of it spilled over. Not fun when it is -8 deg F outside.

2. Reverse all ATV and snowmobile trail/riding area closures from the past 12 years. I just read that there were some major changes to one of our favorite dispersed camping and ATV area this Fall and we are very upset and disappointed.

3. Get rid of DPFs on 1/2, 3/4, 1 ton diesel trucks. DPFs are great on long haul trucks that continually regenerate while towing due to high EGTs. DPFs on private, non-commercial, diesels suck. They increase fuel usage, reduce engine lifespan, decrease engine reliability, and place unnecessary burden on private individuals. We can offset diesel emissions by forcing all those who voted for Clinton to walk, ride bicycles, and use public transportation. That Denver light rail system parallel to I-25 would be better served as a highway. Nobody seems to ever use it.

4. Emissions on snowmobiles and ATVs, really? A single cargo container shipping cheap China made goods to the USA EMITS as much pollution as 50 million cars. Let's fix this pollution problem by bringing jobs back home. Less cargo ships equals a whole lot loss pollution then ever emitted by snowmobiles and ATVs.

5. I'm tired of toilets that don't flush on the first attempt. New dishwashers that don't wash dishes requiring you to run the washer more than once, and washing machines that barely get clothes wet enough to wash them. I'm all for saving water but 1 gallon toilet flush, 2.5 gpm showerheads, and washing machines that don't work place conservation ahead of efficacy-a no go!

6. Allow California to secede. This way Texas which supplies a lot of their energy needs can improve their economy by raising prices of gasoline, diesel, natural gas, and electricity to Californians whose environmental policies have made them reliant on energy imports from surrounding states. Perhaps Colorado can sell water to California at increased rates to pay for widening I-25. Allowing Califonia to secede would be a great experiment to prove that Socialism ultimate fails when you run out of other people's money and there is none left to redistribute. Perhaps California can become part of Mexico-its almost there already.

7. Get rid of a progressive income tax. We should encourage and not punish personal income growth. Citizens should all pay the same percentage of income tax. If not, then we should have a progressive vote system. Higher income brackets voters votes should count more than a lower income bracket voter if we retain the progressive income tax. All Citizens should be treated equally and I don't feel I'm receiving adequate representation for my level of taxation. Taxation without adequate representation was one of the basis of our country's founding. All citizens should have the same % of "skin" in the game. People who make more already pay more in taxes so don't even go there with that argument.

8. Why are we taxing dividend income? Share holders own a small portion of a corporation. That corporation is already taxed at a too high rate in this country on income. Why are we being double taxed on dividends that are distributed to the corporation's owners-shareholders? This doesn't make sense. I'm ok with taxing capital gains at a person's flat income tax rate.

9. It took 108 years to eliminate the Spanish-American war tax on phones. We need to do the same to other excise taxes sooner rather than later.

10. Too much government bureaucracy and bloat that seems only designed to collect taxes and redistribute them. Why are school lunches a national issue? Why does the EPA want to control a small pond on a person's property? Why can't I collect my rain water and store it in a cistern to use to water my lawn?

11. Thorium nuclear power can reduce our reliance on natural gas, coal, and fossil fuel power generation and is safer. http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/crux/2015/01/16/thorium-future-nuclear-energy/#.WFbwbtIrL4Y I'm all for windmills and solar power but even environmentalists don't want them in their backyard. Senator's Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, and Mitt Romney opposed windpower installed off shore by their fancy beach houses. HYPOCRITES.

12. Solve global warming by forcing all global warming believers to give up their fossil fuel cars and fossil fuel heated homes. Furthermore, don't allow global warning belivers to reproduce since children are nothing but carbon producers anyway.

Please add to my list. Most are "tongue-in-cheek" to illustrate absurdity.

Some of your info about California seems "off" though.

California contributes more to the GDP of the USA than CO, UT, ID, MT, WY, MN, SD, ND, NE, MN, WI, AK combined.... And is less dependent on Federal funds than any of these states as well (Cali contributes more to the federal coffers than it takes) .... It would probably be in California's best interest to secede. ;)

Since Cali is still the 3rd largest producer of oil, by State, in the USA (TX, ND, CA) ... and still has a strong refinery infrastructure... I don't think that would injure Cali's energy usage either if Cali only used their own. California is considered an "Island state" in terms of oil because it produces almost all of the Gasoline/Diesel used in the state and has high tax barriers that make importation from other states costly.

And for sure...Cali has it's problems...and with a population numbers that eclipse any other state.... I would expect it to have major issues.
I've seen a lot of people portraying California as Anti-Capitalist...or that California is a huge welfare state that is a drain on the rest of the country.... the numbers just don't seem to support those claims.

Something to ponder.

MH, I had no idea California had that many oil wells.

#1. I hate those gas cans. I recently bought an older but brand new condition two compartment gas can. One side for 2 cycle gas and a smaller compartment for bar oil, $1. I also bought two old and in great condition round 5 gallon metal cans for $2 each. One blue for diesel, and one red for gas. Go that route. I won't buy those new cans!
#4. Agreed. My sister told me one time that she was against snowmobiles because they pollute the air. And then of course me, with 10 beers in me and a big mouth asked how much do those 747's pollute when you fly to England, France, etc. 2-3 times a years to look at some stupid art while you are sitting on your fat aass letting the french wine breath while you eat expensive goat cheese. I haven't seen my sisters for years now.:face-icon-small-con
#12. Again, agreed. A bible thumping family down the road has 14 kids. What if every human on the planet had that many kids. They don't pay income tax and their church doesn't pay income or property tax, but they all are protected by our military, police, and fire departments.
I wonder how many thumbs down I will get on #12. :eyebrows:

Perhaps Jill Stein can take up the gas can cause and raise money to that effect?

Do the snap vents really help? I may have to smuggle non-EPA approved gas cans from Canada along with 5 gallon flush toilets and 7 gpm showerheads one day.

You can buy the snap vents and new spouts on the internet. Most are sold as repair kits as to not "break the law".

Around here you can buy those snap vents and new spouts at Bomgaars (think Tractor Supply type store). Somewhere around $9 for both spout and vent with adapters to fit practically any gas can. BUT only for use in pre 2009 jugs. Riiiiight.

Just buy the racing gas jugs, that's all I have. They pour great, they pour so fast I pretty much spill every time I fill my push mower. :face-icon-small-con

FAIL on top of FAIL on top of FAIL!!!!

I agree my main political concerns are also my gas can and diesel truck.

That said, I do like the non-progressive income notion. Tax is already a percentage...so a higher earner is already paying more just by the math...no need for an additional "penalty" per say.
