Real close.
We have been running the 47C4572 on the 800. It’s a little longer for the 11.6” center to center on the 800

47C4572 the belt to run over the 45C4553?

Now that I have an on-board belt temp gauge (Razorback) what kind of temps are considered "too hot".

Razorback Belt Temp Gauge

I have the V2 version, but works really well showing instantaneous temp changes. I mounted the sensor just forward of where the belt leaves the secondary and pointing straight done on the top of the belt. I posted this here as I don't know how the sensor can be properly installed on a N/A sled as I put the sensor inboard of the oil tank right where the ducting from the plenum to the air box goes.

The gauge is the round one and at that time showing outside ambient temps.

Curious if anyone is using TRS clutching on boosted 850's and if so, what all did they change when they went from the 800 boosted setup to the 850.

Want to give a big thank you to Tony! He’s been very helpful with me on his clutching and boondocker box #’s for the PRO chassis! I was told when I purchased the used kit that it had a big name behind the clutching and tuning. Well it was a sales pitch that I fell due to the kit coming from the same state and no help from that so called kit provider assisting me. I finally got to try clutching from Tony. It is much smother and shifts better. I was enjoying myself so much I forgot to check clutch temps! Next up is working on BD box numbers! Tony also went out of his way with other items in regards to clutching that I wil not disclose of without his permission. Thanks again Tony! THE WORLD NEEDS MORE TONY’S!

What’s the difference between this and the 45c4553

The 47C4572 is roughly .190” longer. It’s a tad wider but will wear down fairly quick.
Many of the AXYS chassis, 800 or 850, has a center to center of 11.6”+not the 11.5” as advertised or spec’d. 11.6” calls for a longer belt if you want to get proper initial low end gearing and full shift out in the secondary. If the belts to short you will bottom in the secondary and the primary will try and will tear the belt apart. Now I know we don’t get that shift out on the hill, but your 1:1 ratio and anywhere else along the shift cycle isn’t correct either. Think about a multi angle or progressive helix. What angle is it running at?
I’ve been experimenting with chamfering the top cooling cogs down to the cord line on the stock Polaris and Gates belts. It has definitely changed where the primary is gripping the belt for the better. It now grips below the cord line instead of gripping the cord line along with the cooling cogs. Not much meat to the belt above the cord line.
Looking back at old belts in the shop, I’m replicating or advancing the angle.
It’s a simple task and can be done on a drill press, I use the mill. It may be something my fellow Snowesters can try. At $200 for a stock belt, why not see if it prolongs life.

Wanted to do a little review of the TRS clutching way.

A little background, 16 axys 800 155, rode sled stock for 300 miles and blew stock belt at about 200. Added silber turbo and sent cluthches to IS for reshimming spider and Dans wonderful clutch work. After turbo was added running 7# at 10,000 i was blowing belts every 150 or so. this was with the polaris belt and the gates 45c, the polaris lasted just a tick better. this was with tons of cool down time with panels off till clutches were just warm. It was rediculous the amount of cool down time i was doing. belts were still blowing.

I knew something was wrong so i bought a AXIS clutch alignment tool to check offset. factory setting was spot on according to that bar. i then tried some different clutching to try and figure it out. Nothing seemed to help. I had been looking at the TRS thread and decided to read the entire thing. Good lord, its long ! Decided to contact tony after reading his method using bar stock to check offset, I did this method and found my offset was way inboard when the alignment bar said it was right on. So i shimmed it out and gave it .025 float. I then bought TRS helix and weights also bought venom springs.

My previous setup i couldnt achieve full rpm, could only get 7900-8100 in 2-3 feet of fresh powder and rpm would fade on steep climbs.

TRS setup last time out in cooke pulled 8400-8600 depending on snow conditions. There is alot of power in that 8400-8600 range !!!!

Im a very happy camper and wanted to say thanks for the help. Very pleasant guy to talk to.

No blown belts in 7 days of riding, clutch faces look incredible. Used gates 45c

current set up running 7# of boost at 10,000

TRS weights- 70 gram
TRS helix-42-32f
venom 125-175 secondary spring
venom 140-330 primary spring
8400-8600 all day long !

I really believe the offset is super critical to achieving belt life.

Thanks,Tim

I wouldn't have expected the 47C4572 to be a good fit for the AXYS, that's what I've got on my 600 (EDGE RMK) because that's what Gates lists as their replacement for the 3211080 belt. I'm not sure they've got the right though, because it's 1/4" longer and 1/32" wider per their specs, and sure enough it had negative clearance in the primary when I got it (I decided to have the primary serviced anyway, so I sent both to Indy Specialties and let them set the clearance). Looking at the dimensions, I have to wonder which belt exactly it's a direct replacement for. The 44C4553 appears closest to the 080, and the 48C4553 most closely matches the 115/183/216 belts. I emailed Gates and never got a reply, but it works great so far and I had no issues setting deflection.

In case you're wondering, and since I copied all the specs down when I was digging into it, the 115, 183, and 216 belts are 46.77" circumference and 1.46" wide with 26º side angle; the Gates belts spec as follows:
48C4553 – 46.75 x 1.469 x 26º
47C4572 – 46.875 x 1.469 x 28º
45C4553 – 46.704 x 1.44 x 26º
44C4553 – 46.75 x 1.438 x 28º

I know it's a bit early for sledding but not for me. I just bought a blown up turbo pro I'm rebuilding and have been reading all the threads on clutching. Seems like I need to find some lightning weights before anything else. Does anyone sell these anymore?
