Our sledding season opens December 1. Currently there is well over 2' on the summit so it has the makings for a great year. We'll be out with the groomer starting the night of Dec 1, mostly just leveling roads at this point.

The camp ground at the top will be fenced off, it has been logged but not cleaned up and is currently a major hazard area. You've been warned.

See you on the hill....

Are they still going to groom a trail to the top of the powerline heading down to Obrien Park or is Divide Road the only way ?

The trail will still be groomed around the campground as usual and down the powerline as before. The only problem is the campground and the extent of leftover debris. Just suggest to stay away from the meadows in the campground. There will be fences and bamboo to mark the area to stay out of, outside of that, no changes.

In reguards to the Dec 1 issue, we share the area with hunters and others. Trails open December 1 as well as cross country travel. Grooming starts the night of December 1.

The problem with that is that hunting season ends on the 25th but we have to stay out until Dec.1st. If this was truly their reason for keeping us out, the trails should open the next day.,

For those interested, we groomed out west last night to Harley, Onion Park and up over the burn ( trail C ) then back through the black forest. All trees were cleared and the trail is open without obstruction.

Snow depth ranged from 12 - 14" and allot less as you dropped elevation. Land mines are clearly visible so use caution.

The campground has a clearly marked boundary, debris is everywhere and I would stay out of it. We groomed a trail down to Showdown but it isn't for easy access to their slopes if you get my drift. Jeff will be working on the east side tonight so watch for him, he has the right of way.

Safe sledding to all.

Jeff groomed out to Spur Park and we have a temporary F/S approval for a trail reroute through Spur Park. We will be going up the east side of Spur along the trees up to the Sand Point road then back on the original route to Ant Park. We are going to try and find a decent route to Higgens but everyone may be on your own to there. As snow permits we plan to groom up the Lamb Creek road from Forest Green then on to Higgens from the back. We then plan to go the other way to the top of 3 cabins, on down Stud Horse and Allen Gulch snow permitting.

Watch the plowed road as the berms are a bitch and hard as a rock.

Bare with us....

We were out yesterday, we opened George Noble gates and cleared the trees. There was a fair amount of snow on top. The trail is ungroomed.

Every where else is unchanged, not much new snow and forecast looks bleak. The trails are groomed to Eagle Park and back up Moose Creek road. Snow was marginal in the Calf Creek area. We are also groomed to Spur Park and have a temporary rerout of the trail due to the logging. Watch the berm. Supposedly the road is closed Monday through Friday to snowmobiles and open on the weekend but it's plowed right to the dirt. The Deadman's parking lot is also affected by this operation.

The beacon checker is out, it's just beyond the information sign as you leave the parking lot. Remember, you must slow to a near stop for it to work properly. Green go, red no go.

If you were out last weekend, the snow is pretty much the same.

Ride safe.....

Not much new to add, the snow is wind blown and tracked up. No new yet.
Jeff has all trails on the west side groomed at least once and on the east side he has been to Ant Park.

The road up Dead Mans is still plowed with berms. He has not groomed towards Higgens because of the logging. We understand there are a couple trees down beyond the logging area and that you can get around them.

As always, should anyone encounter downed trees please let someone know or put a post here so we can deal with them.

Ride safe.....

Still nothing, snow is wind blown and tracked. Jeff went out with the groomer and straightened the west side out last night. Trails leaving the parking lot will have to stay as is until it snows.

The parks around the trees are pretty good as the wind drifts them back in. Lots of open water though so keep your eyes open. Watch for down trees.

Ride safe, we'll see you out there.....

Visiting family near by next week, was thinking of dragging the sleds over ( from Seattle
Area) and checking this area out. Sounds like it may not be worth the effort, anyone care to share, if one fights the thin on the trail up is there much worth playing in up higher? Still early maybe next month.

You never know what we might get but right now it's not very good. Trails are groomed out where we can. The parks around the trees aren't bad but don't expect any endless powder. The meadows are wind blown and for the most part hard. Expect the worst and you might be surprised.....

A little up date, we had a couple inches of snow but not enough to do any good.
The top of the mountain is really wind blown, we are short of snow down through Weatherwax especially at the bottom. We rode out to Spur Park and Ant park then out towards Higgans. Spur has snow but rough and hard. The loggers have the road plowed out towards and beyond Higgans. Access is a little tuff down that way. There are still some gates closed on Allen gulch and up Snaggy. Additionally there are some trees down in the same area.
Ant park and beyond is short of snow, the cabin at ant park couldn't of had more than 8" down in the Mussel Shell was worse yet.

On the west side, the snow was better but nothing soft, mostly hard and wind blown. Stay out of the campground on top and watch the meadows for rocks and stumps.

Ride smart.
