PJ, obviously your insurance sucked. When my hand got crushed a few years ago, I got an ambulance ride, a heli ride and the surgery for $100. Now, my insurance is not as good, but, you got screwed there. Now, that being said, you don't have an income issue and I'll leave it at that.
Hunter was born in January. Deductable not met hence the massive bill. But if you saw the $ breakdown that UCH gave us you'd crap your pants. She was there for 3 days and they charged us 3500/day for her and 5500/day for Hunter. All of the specialists (students they say) cost close to 75k. Didn't know we were paying students but hell, it's the University of Boulder, what do you expect.
Plus I'm still working on the layoff thing. There were certain bills that I negotiated down to pay a bare minimum just to stay current and now I'm paying double the normal amount (my choice) to catch up and payoff. Doesn't help that I have to drive 80 miles a day and fuel cost .50 more a gallon here than in the Front Range. Believe me, if this house would sell and make me money, I'd sell and move.
