yea just got my 23/40 gearing in my pro xr 800 144x2 ez ryde skid ,all stock clutching besides dalton 68s,have new gearing setup orderd, never tested fully yet while im braking my new 74P chain in with this 23/40 gearing but first hand i dont think it has the low end snap that 25/40 had, which dont make sense, maybe chain tight drawing horsepower, but what do you guys think? run alot of on/off trail depending on where im headed, still want 90+ mph but i like low end grunt hit me with some ratios also stock drivers

68g's and 64 degree helix is a bit stiff for a stock 800...It'll pull it once it gets goin but it wont snap out of the hole .I think your gearing is ok....i would start with stock 64g weights...140-300 spring, and I had more success with a 54-42 F helix/140-240 spring.....2004 prox2 800

it has single slp pipe and can airbox reeds,no mjour motor mods, but it pulls 25/40 great outta the hole, chain might be to stiff yet with 23/40 gear its NR so

When I had a Pro-X2 700 a few years ago with SLP single setup I ran 10-66 weights, the 719 helix in the 66-44/.46 setting, red/blue spring or black/blue, and 22/40 gearing with a 144x1.25 track and it was wicked! With the 2" track you are running I would gear it down to 21/41 which is 800 Assault gearing, you'll still be able to hit 90+ on speedo easily...
The red/blue spring is a bit softer and allows higher topend, a stiffer black/blue or black/green allows quicker acceleration along with the steeper helix which these BB engines need.

You like high speed, where I like "quick set your hair on fire torque"

Your gearing is high and your chain tension is moot. The 21/41 is a 1.95 Ratio - Stock on most mtn sleds. Then people gear down a tooth to about a 2.15 ratio. I'm currently running 19/43 about 2.26 ratio.....Killer, but I am going to try a 20/43 (2.15 ratio) just to see the diffference with my setup.

Play around (might have to change chains for some ratios)) and find what you like......:)
