and to prove my point about torque and fresh snow we have this other video to contrast. It looks like overall track speed in ideal conditions (rock hard snow) are relativly the same. But get in fresh snow and it changes quite dramatically.

Unrelated. What camera did you film that with? Gopro? The video is just insane clear.

Wow that's a lil underwhelming. All that new hp and less weight and I'd expect a lot more than a sled length

One other thing to consider, the old 3" track felt like it bit better on the snow we were riding on that day. The lugs on the new 3" track are not jagged but flat at the tip. Some track spin would occur on this snow we had this day. It was cold and hard as a rock, literally.

Also, until DJ gives us the gear ratio numbers we will not know for sure but It seemed the G4 is geared slightly lower then the same track length T3.

I think this is pretty cool actually. On pavement snow the old 800etec and the new 850etec are pretty closely matched as far as top speed, but in new snow its a very apparent difference in climbing. The yellow T-3 has a belt drive....not sure this matters but it was pulling the 16 T3 every time.

I'll be throwing a leg over a 165x2.5 tomorrow so that should be interesting in the spring snow we have. Looking at the sled in person today it looked a lot better than the pics. Very compact and nice in the engine area. Well thought out for sure.

On a side note, if I got a 154 I would be looking at the gearing for sure! not sure what the justification was in gearing the 165 G4 the same as the 154 G4. 19/45.

Yes and the T3 163 is 21-51

The driver diameter on the T3 is 7.2"
The Driver diameter on the G4 is 6.5"

So someone who wants to figure out the differing ratios will ya :)

That would put them at almost exactly the same final ratio

The new Polaris is claimed 10% more power than before. All dynos on the old motor were 140-145 hp. New motor should be 155 ish. But dynos are showing 144-150, so...... It's a crap shoot.

And Doo is claiming 165......

What were the mods to the Axys? Looks like the Poo jumped the start a little. More of a HP test than torque. The Doo has similar HP numbers but, according to the specs, has impressive torque over the 800.

The only mods were a can.

I had an opportunity to ride the new 850 165 3" on the weekend and I was certainly impressed with the power! It pulls hard!

I spent a week riding in Whistler and Revy. I rode an Axys, a Pro, my XM and my Snowbike over the last week.

The power on the 850 is incredible on clicker 1 and still in break in mode. The handling is significantly better than my XM due to it being more balanced.

One of my buds who is a Poo guy, got off the new 850 and snowchecked one right after. I already had snowchecked before I rode it! Come on October!!
