Drilled out the spot welds on the drop brackets, the support under the runningboards will not fit the Burandt boards. i will use them to try out the Assault skid and they will be redone later.

More sanding on the hood, then i started mocking up the runningboards, footwells and the console.
Now i need the sidepanels to know the height of the hood.

Drilled and tapped the mounting for the skidplate.

Started on a template for the sheet that meets the tunnel.

Reused the top sheet from the PRO tunnel just to keep it flickable to the max ;)!

Poor mans sheet metal brake..

need some trimming but it will work.

bought a crashed hood, and did some repairs to it with a soldering iron and a heat gun.

Why two suspensions? Why not go for just PPS or just longtrack? Or just longtrack the PPS skid. Well, or just modify the PPS arms too fit the Assault skid ;)
You do got the skills :) Would maybe be fun to change between long track and shortie now and then but it probably soon tire you out. Lots of work for a transplant and making the sled a shortie or a longtrack :p

Well time will tell what skid will be most used. Its 15 years since i owned a sled and did some real riding and back then it was shorties only. I did some snowcross and cross country racing so thats where im from. But the riding now is a bit different and i dont want to be the only guy with a shortie in a group of mountain sleds either.

Drilled the rivet holes and the rear bolt hole for the runningboards and did the final cutting around the holes in the runningboards. With the runningboards in place i could start on the footwells.

Trying out the chain case.
It is a tight fit and it will be interesting to se the clearance to the side panels but that was the reason i bought fiberglass panels so they will be easier to modify. (the side panels arrived earlier this week but in wrong colour... so i returned them)

A good explanation of how the ASA shock works (from their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/pages/ASA-Suspension-AB/137753293083108) I did a Quick translation with Google translate.
ASA system's principle:
Nitrogen spring protected by rubber membrane so it can not be mixed with oil. Pressure can be adjusted so you always have the correct spring without changing parts. The nitrogen spring never fades, it weighs nothing, but gives the absolute best performance in comfort and isolation from the terrain .
Damping in the return phase only, the oil flowing laminar between piston and cylinder inner mantle controlled by piston speed through the oil that automatically sets the column in the "moderate" position - ASA patent - so it Always has the correct damping force. No set screws, clicks, controls are needed.
With laminar flow the oil is not cut off or forced in the same way as the competitors.
Thanks to the high internal pressure, no water or other foreign objects get into the shock absorber.
Translation to the pic. Gasbehållare = nitrogen container, Olja = Oil, Gummimembran = Rubber Membrane, Stålkona = Steel cone, Plastkona = Plastic cone.

Started to mount the lower plastic.
Borrowed a secondary clutch from a friend to see the clearance.
Sidepanel closed

Fastener on the right side.

had to grind a bit on the plastic.
I will probably replace the torx bolt with a Dzus because i have to remove it and bend the plastic a bit to be able to remove the belt and i dont want to bring a torx tool to able to change belt.
I had to mount this fastener pretty far out to the side to be able to remove the clutch. (you can see my first try closer to the clutch, i used a soldering iron to fill up the hole)

its Close.
