on my 2010 M8, is this a problem? am I running the rear axle bolts way too tight? what is the best fix if I need one. the washers haven't worn in too far but may cause a noticeable problem if I ever need to tighten or loosen the track and the washers won't fit in the circles worn in the rails and would possibly slip. just get bigger washers? machine the rails down a tad? thanks

The problem is the axle is too long. Your bolts are tight yet the washers are loose on the rails and rattle making them wear the rail away.

The fix is take the axle out and grind the ends off about a 1/8th on either side making the axle slightly shorter. Now when you tighten the bolts it will clamp the washers tight against the rails. That should fix it.
