Whats up boys and girls

I got me a new summer project to soak up all my spare time!
Picked up an old Kawasaki KX500 that I am going to build a hill climber out of. I've been meaning to find an old 500 for a couple years now, I only had 2 requirements: liquid cooled, and rear disc brakes. This one met both, and was free so its a good starting point!

What I ended up with is 2 incomplete bikes, the more complete one is a 1987 and the lesser is a 1985. I have 90% of the 1987 so will just need to ebay up a few things and then rebuild my way through the rest of the bike. What I cant use from the 1985 I will part out to compensate for what I need to buy for the 1987.

Gotta love how massive the cylinder looks next to the comparatively small 900cfi cylinder!

So far my list is pretty small:
ebay parts:
-sub-frame
-seat
-inner clutch hub
-coil

New parts:
-all engine / trans bearings and seals
-piston kit
-gaskets
-clutch
-plastic

I don't have any new 'toys' so to speak, but I did pick myself up something new last weekend... A 2002 Interstate 3-place enclosed trailer I found on the west side of the state. All in all it's been pretty well cared for and I have spent most of this week cleaning it up further and starting to set it up to my liking (and budget, lol) I wish I would have had this sooner, would have been nice to take a spare sled up to Revy... oh well.

haha, no, closer to a yard;) Tracked real nice bringing it home 130 miles over Snoqualmie Pass, but it does hop a little bit when I do really tight turns, haha. Gonna put in a folding shelf/table thing in the nose for setting gear or other stuff on when at the snow-park, other than that, not too sure if I'm gonna add anything else or not.... Still gotta shine up the diamondplate on the outside with my powerball and do some touch-up under the back ramp... I got the front ramp all cleaned up the other day:D

The last pic is where my bike ended up coming to a stop after a near wipeout... almost went over the ledge... probably 30 feet down! yikes

Doesn't look like you are riding at all, not a scratch on it.

Summer fun

Week in Yellowstone and a week in Glacier where we were snowed on at the end of June and couldn't get through the park East to West becuase the road was under 20+ feet of snow!! Saw snowmobile tracks at Yellowstone when traving the North loop over the pass. The entire side of a mountain was covered with them! I took my 30 foot trailer and my cummins to tow it (pictured). Wife and kids loved the trip!!
