I am looking for a sled and ran across a 2006 900 RMK with bout 500 miles on it. Guys looking for $4500. I have heard a lot of bad things about the 900's. What are your guys thoughts..are they as funky as the people say or have that just gotten a bad rap?

Love mine..... well at least I hope to be enjoying mine this season... long story. :(

$$4500 is a little high. I paid $5500 for mine at the beginning of last season with no mods and broken handle bars. I kicked myself in the @ss later when I discovered this forum and how much I should have spent on it. O well, live and learn.

Like Sean said, read through the stickies and ask as many questions as you need to. Theirs alot of great info and even better people here on SW.

As a 900 owner, if the sled is mint ,has all updates, and been on a weight loss program, with these low miles it doesn't sound bad to me. I kept mine because of the huge discounts & I still ride it as well as my new sled! I made several changes to mine ($1400 worth) before I liked the handling, but now it handles fine. Better front shock/spring set up & definitely different skis!

A used 800 Dragon/Assault will handle better if this 900 is stock and will have a one year engine warranty after recall, but most likely will cost you a lot more. My new sled is 800 Assault.

Good luck dealing!:beer;

Dunno; with 500mi on it, sounds like a decent deal at that price.

Yeah, they need some work, but 4k5's a reasonable price.

Tnaks for input

After reading replies and looking through the threads- especially the one that was mentioned- it sounds like $1500 - $2k worth of mods on top of $4500 purchase price, to get the sled to work like it is suppose to. I guess for about $600 more I can buy a new, left over inventory, 2008 M8, that works pretty darn well out of the box. Thanks for the help. The 900 sounds like a rippin sled once dialed in, but beyond my comfort level.
