Just got off the phone with my Poo dealer, they need me to bring my sled up for the slp flash. By the time I go up there on Friday, they will have all my sled and dirt bike parts ready on the counter.

Any input on clutching for the SLP pipe I am about to add?
Currently I am running 7500 average with 10-68's and an SLP blue/pink, how much more weight am I going to have to throw at the slp pipe to get the 7800 for it? or is it close to a wash because of the higher rpm target?
I have 10-70, 10-72, and 10-74's in my box, just wondering if I should be picking up something when I make my parts run on friday.

I would run what you have now and see what it pulls with the pipe. I would think you'd be pretty close to start. I'm running 70s in my stock setup and Mark has 72s with his pipe.... we're both pulling about 7700 average.

Cool, thanks Seth. Sounds like I should be able to work it out with what I have in my parts box. Whats Mark running for a primary spring?

same as you, SLP blue/pink. I would think with the pipe you will automatically be pulling just a little more RPM right off the bat, I could be wrong though.... For some reason I want to say the pipe gave him an extra 200 RPM by itself, its just so hard to remember.

i run at 5000-8000ft (or meters, LOL), i use the SLP blue/pink primary spring, black/white secondary spring (rougly 10-72g weights)

they try and make you buy the SLP 74g MTX weights, but you dont have to. (they are 4g heavier then standard 10 series polaris)..

so i would start with the 10-70s, 10-72, 10-74s and you will be money man..

Dan, here's what I run on my '06 (copied from a previous post):

My '06 900-159 has the SLP single and reflash, custom intake and V-Force 3 reeds, as well as about 60 lbs. of weight removed. I ride between 4,000 - 7,000 feet.
My clutching is : Primary - 74g MTX weights with 2g rivet in the middle and 3g rivet in the tip - total of 79 grams, SLP black/yellow spring
(120-310 if I remember correctly).
Secondary - 70-42-.46 with Red/Pink spring.
Gearing was 19/42. With this setup, sled pulled very hard, but was still hitting the rev limiter (8050 rpm) quite often (I was told by an SLP tech I met at the Edmonton sled show that with their package, peak power on the '06 is 7,650 rpm's). I've regeared to 20/42 and although it helped out with the over-rev quite a bit, I still hit the limiter occassionally. To that end, I'm going to try a different primary spring with a 10 lb. lighter finish rate. I've also had very good belt life with this setup. Ran one belt for over two dozen rides last winter and it still looks great. As well, my clutches only got clean twice last winter because of belt residue.

Dan, since I originally posted the info above, I have gone to a 120/300 primary spring and rpm's have been staying between 7600 - 7800. Sled pulls like a freight train and belt life has been phenominal. I'm on season two on my current belt and it still looks like new.

You're very welcome, Dan. Ya, even though the MTX's are a different animal, I hope some of the info can help you. As you already know, most critical is the rpm range you run in. Like I stated above, shoot for 7600-7800. If I remember correctly, the SLP tech told me to try for 7650 to just over 7700. Once past 7800, hp starts dropping off quickly. How can you not love these low-revving torque monsters ? Mine makes me smile every time I stab the throttle. I'm going to miss that when I go Pro next season.

I have MTX weights and it was a huge improvement in the way the sled runs when I installed them.

My cylinder arrived today, and tomorrow morning I'm making the 2 hour drive to get my parts from my fav polaris dealer. If everything goes smoothly I should have my sled built and ready for a test run tomorrow evening. Braaap

Sled is built and running!
I got out for a 15 min test run, and this 9 is running perfect again. Tomorrow I'll be out for a day ride to put her through her paces. Need to calculate oil consumption, re-torque the clutch a couple times, etc....

I didn't get the slp flash done, unfortunately my polaris dealer was having trouble with their computer interface. The pipe install has become a summer project.

I also plugged my decompression holes in the cylinders while it was apart, very happy with the results. Throttle response is much improved, especially at lower rpm.
