SMF... Great pix.

The point of the elevated boards is to keep them out of the snow... for one... which yours will do better than stock when trenching to a degree.

But also... to have better leverage on the sled with a higher mounting point of the board... that would require that the boards are mounted higher in the front as well (where you stand the most on the sled).

That said... Keep us posted... I'm sincerely interested in how it turns out

Oh the front will be up 1" or so.
Just have not modified the foot hoops yet to allow it to rest there.

Just wait it's going to be clean.

bmfab AXYS boards on my pro

Overlays. .080 5052.

Took like 10 minutes start to finish at work. :)

Going to cut the stock outter portion of the drop brackets off.

Thinking to overlay an 1/8" aluminum formed piece.

With gussets.

Such a great topic SMF... so I broke it out of the other thread so it has it's own.. Keep up the great work and please keep us "in the loop"...

Ya gotta love when skilled artisans are doing up a project like this!!

Talk your boss into letting you make the kits... Unless you are the boss... then, heck... make a kit!!

.

Those things will sell like hot cakes!! Not many things I dislike about my Pro but the ice buildup on the drop brackets is a joke!!
If a guy could use a couple of the improvements of the Axys on the Pro like the raised chassis, running boards and gussets, he'd have a sled that is pretty close and not have to break the bank!!

I'd love to make a kit.

Just like i'd love to find more hours in the day.

Problem is we are always booked like two months out with projects like below. :)

Hard to make time to do any repetitive speculative production runs.

Plus the margins are good for custom architectural fab.

If someone local wants a set of side plates just draw them up and we can bust them out similar to these for 70 bucks or so.
Selling from here to the states is usually cost prohibitive.

Nice work... the staircase rails... sweet!

Yea.. I hear ya on the margins...there are hardly any margins in the sled parts...unless you have a product no one else has and charge a fair price.

Anxious to see the finished project

Now that the boards are higher, what about the riding ergonomics. Will you raise the seat(knees will be bent more while seated)? Higher bars will be needed while standing to maintain original ride height. Just curious.

i dont know about SMF, but i have dan adams bars and wrp rasmussen seat, im shorter so i may still keep the dan adams bars or go back to stock, we will see. as for the seat the only time i really use it is when we are stopped, very rarely on they trail.

Axys Tank/seat IS taller when measured from the top-deck of the tunnel... as are the handle bars.

I also have lower bars and seat on my ProRide RMK...

If you do move the boards up... there are aftermarket seats and bars/risers that can easily bring the height into line if you raise the board this 1.5 (or so) inches.
