HELP US SAVE LIVES
This is a fundraiser for the Utah Avalanche Center.
All proceeds from this event go towards avalanche outreach and education
geared specifically for snowmobilers.
What-
Essential Avy and Riding Skills Workshop. A practical, hands on
avalanche and advanced riding skills clinic for snowmobilers. Wednesday
evening classroom session is followed by field instruction near the
Noblett's Trailhead in the western Uinta Mountains. Instructors include
Utah Avalanche Center forecasters along with Dan Gardiner, Phatty and
the Boondockers crew. The seminar is limited to 24 people, allowing a 4:1
instructor to participant ratio.
When and Where-
Wednesday Jan. 5th - 6:00-9:00 pm- 1061 E. Murray
Holladay Rd., Holladay, Utah (Hidden Lake Condominium Clubhouse) Evening
classroom instruction- Weather, snowpack, terrain, rescue and human
factors involved in avalanche accidents.
Saturday Jan. 8th- 9:30 am-5:30 pm Meet at Noblett's Trailhead.
9:30-11:00- Beacon Orientation- single and multiple burials along with
advanced search, probe and shoveling techniques
11:00-4:30- We'll access terrain surrounding Nobletts, Mill Hollow and
Tower Mountain for snowpit and stability assessment, terrain/safe travel
overview and avalanche danger evaluation. In addition, Dan and Phatty
will provide hands on advanced riding instruction, giving you the skills and
confidence to drop 50 foot cliffs like these guys.
4:30-5:30 Wrap up, review and high fives from your riding partners.
Cost- $200.00 per person (includes lunch)
Must have- Avalanche beacon, shovel and probe... and of course, a sled.
