That's a pretty impressive motor. Makes 155hp at 7500 rpm. That's the same hp the suz motor made on the same dyno at full rpm. Make 160hp from about 7800-8300 rpm! That is awesome. Talk about an easy motor to clutch.

Looks like a sweet motor, but im gonna guess its heavier than the zuke.
nothing in their literature about it being lighter right?, and the early release 18 is in fact heavier than the 17 MC if you look at that posted spec sheet in other thread.
Does the ctec have a hollowed crank like the zuke h.o.?
Im thinking cat left some room on the table here...

The 18 definitely isn't heavier than the mountain cat. Not sure what spec sheet or maybe there is confusion but its around 8-9 lbs lighter than the mtn cat minimum. Im guessing the motor is about the same tho as they havent mentioned any loss there.

When the c-tech 600 came out in 2015 it was advertised as being 10lbs lighter than the 600 it replaced. It would stand to reason the c-tech 800 would be lighter, but you never know until you weigh both.

Part of the weight loss on the 600 was the pork chop cut counterweights on the crank. The 800 already has those since 2010. I read somewhere that there was a 1 lb. weight loss from the old 800 to the new. when they lightened the crank on the 800 in 2010, they said it saved 4 lbs.

And the early release doesn't have some things on it that the fall model will have, like the LW Driveshaft

Yeah no doubt. Not sure I want to deal with an aluminum shaft. That's the #1 reason I bought a chaincase axys with the steel shaft over the belt drive and alum shaft with dumb collar bandaid

Country Cat has videos on youtube of weighing 17 vs 18 full of fluids...ready to ride. 18 is 11lbs lighter

yes but thats a sno pro. It has a heavier 2.6 track, wide running boards, thicker tunnel, ect...
I was comparing to a 17MC, but perhaps thats not fair?
But it shares many of the same features as the 18ER. So you get a better idea how the new motor/plastics affect the chassis overall.

Not that I wouldnt trade for an 18, the sled looks phenomenal, lets see what goodies come on the MC! cuz the weight thing is nothing if you have a MC already.

Early release is the Sno Pro as well, so weight comparison would be on equivalent models between 17 and 18. 17 MC would be lighter, but hopefully so is the 18.
