AC 1000 Big Bore Clutching/Jetting

Installing a speedwerx 1000 top end on a 2001 800 Mountain Cat. Wondering if anyone has clutching and or jetting help? Running stock carbs, SLP cold air intake, V-Force 3 reeds, MBRP can.

Thanks

I see you posted over at HCS too. Call Ron and he can help you clutch and jet it.

Talked to Ron, and he informed me of all the problems that he has seen with this motor and gave me somewhat of a starting point for low elevation but said I would completly have to have it reworked for it to run. I think I am going to take my chances and see how it runs as is.

Gotta be some guys out there running ported 900's or 1000 big bores that could give me a good starting point at least on clutching for 6-9K??

I had a cutler 1000 motor using cutler ajustable weights 70-80 with 1 gram at the bottom of each weight. On Secondary Had 50-55 ramp with Cutler Black spring (Like Red White AC spring). This motor and clutching would pull your arms. I was running at 6k-9k with twin pipes

Thanks I did talk to speedwerx and they gave me a ball park to start at just wanted to see what people have found that works good. I dont want to waste my whole trip tuning. Thanks for the info though. The 70-80 gram adjustable weights with a 1 gram in the outside hole, would that be a 71 gram weight?

Thanks

I had a speedwerx 1000 on a 03 MC 900. It ran pretty good. Ran it with the SLP twin pipes. Are you trying to run it with the stock single pipe?

No I have the Speedwerx 1000 Single pipe and y-pipe. Do you remeber what you were running for jetting/clutching? Did you have any issues with the motor??

Speedwerx recomended 78 heavy tip weight for low elevation and a 72 heavy tip weight for high elevation.

Cool. At least you talked to him. If you aren't happy at the end of the year you know who you can call to "work" on it...

I looked at my chart I was running biggest weight on the 70-80 cutler it would equate to about 78 on front at 8000+

I would get the CPC adjustable weight. Worth every penny when tuning in the clutching on a motor.

How do the CPC weights work? Is it just different weighted set screws? I saw SLP has adjustable weights but they use weighted rivets. The adjustable weights seem like the way to go, if you buy two sets of regular weights you are about the same cost as one set of adjustables.

How bout gearing? Stock 900 gearing pretty close?

With the slp weights you have to remove the weight from the clutch to change rivits (weight). With the CPC weights you done have to remeve the weight from the clutch to add or subtract weight. The CPC is a very slick setup to make easy adjustments on the hill in minutes.
