Rocks and stumps damage a lot of side panels and chain cases.
It took a sledgehammer, crowbar and expert cussing to straighten my side panel and chain case.
Frequently when the chain case take a hit it is forced upwards and back which causes the stand offs to bend the side panel.
Instead trying to protect the chain case with a guard I welded a strip of 1/4" aluminum flat bar to the side panel beneath and in front of 1/3 of the chain case. Also welded a some reinforcement on the lower opposite side panel.

I've had the chaincase move enough, the chain rubbed on the inside of it, at the bottom sprocket, caused alot of heat, the chain turned blue, wore out, and caused the top sprocked to hook badly. It's vulnerable.

haha I was probably chasing after a crazy guy on a RMZ..........Actually, it was a short, small stump that hung me up. At the time I didn't think it hurt anything, cause I hadnt hit it very hard.
