looks like it would just pack up with snow in every nook and cranny ..

why not design it with a flatter surfaces ? also it would be less hideous

I am assuming it is made with very thin material. If so all the strength is derived from the shapes. Thin, light, flat surfaces, and strong do not go together. That is why even the manufacturers rely on shapes to provide strength to their hoods.

yeah but the stock hood and airbox means no venting= oven

this skinz hood looks to let a heck of alot more heat out with the openings that the stocker does not have, function over form

If you clutch your sled right it won't make a ton of heat in the first place and it will preform way better too. I did some basic clutching at the beginning of last season and my sled ran way cooler then my buddy's exact same stock clutched sled. Venting a G4 as the primary fix is treating the symptom not the actual problem. Clutchkit > ugly hood.

you need to read up on the laws of thermodynamics. Yes a properly clutched sled is very important in helping with clutch temps. But if your hood is retaining heat, lack of airflow it will affect clutch temps. Put your hand on the y pipe which is only a few inchs from the clutch. If your underhood temp is 200f for example, without venting your clutch could never be under 200f. The G4 is terrible at how enclosed everything is, of all the sleds ive had its the worst, stop and open the side panel and you can feel the heat coming out. If you want to be anti-vents thats fine, but venting does help a properly clutched sled. Looks like the skinz hood would help with underhood heat, opinion on looks will always be varied

I think the hood looks better than all the funky(looks like a preschooler designed)wraps that are being put on the sleds, at least the hood will function for something:face-icon-small-coo

It it wasn't for meeting sound regs, every OEM will be venting the snot out of their mountain sleds. It would reduce cost (materials, dev, and testing) while only helping performance (albeit, covering up other potential issues, like clutching). So now, instead, they sell you vent kits at big margins. But, without the regs, the free market would take over and they'd use 'extreme venting' as a feature. (Can't you see someone trademarking "EAV - Extreme Arctic Venting".) Living in realville.

Imo I wouldn't waste money on venting, in order for venting to work there has to be a intake and a exhaust. We have been down this road in the past. Look at how much frog skin material blocks air flow.

Look at underhood radiant heat sources first.

I like the different look of the hood, but for 700 dollars I lost complete interest in it. You can pick up a air box delete from mountain fit hoods for 220 and gain a lot of the weight loss. Just my 2 cents
