Deleting Oil Bottle and Pump 800 Rev

I'm sick of the puddle of oil under my sled. Rather than trying to keep finding the leak I'd rather get rid of the bottle and the pump. Is this possible and what steps do I have to take to do this. Sled is a 04 800HO Skidoo Rev

I have heard of leaving the oil pump and adding a small hose filled with oil and a cap. dont really know how this works. the cover plate sounds like a better idea to me. maybe changing the oil behind the plate once a year. the only downfall is having to use premix on the hill. cant borrow any gas unless you have oil. Anybody know what 40:1 is per gallon of gas. i hate math:face-icon-small-hap

That thread and the link to Ttbas thread is what got me the info I needed for my delete.

128 ounces in a gallon. 40:1 would be approximately 3.25 ounces per gallon.
32:1 is 4 ounces per gallon, thats about 1/3 to a 1/4 of a 12 oz can of beer.
10 gallons of fuel will use 40 ounces of oil at 32:1 thats about 1/3 gallon of oil per 10 gallons of fuel. 40:1 will use approximately 32 ounces of oil per 10 gallons which is one quart.

I am mixing at 32:1

Get yourself a Ratio Rite and makes things easy on yourself.
40:1 is fine

It's fairly easy, when you go to the pump just keep track of how much gas you put in and ad the oil accordingly.

No need to change the oil behind the plate.

Thanks. That one works.

Actually I lied. The post does'nt seem to be there anymore. Anyone else care to help me out please? I cant find any info anywhere on the net. And as for my dealer, well I took a peice of broken jack shaft in to ask a question and they did'nt even know what it was. So I kinda have no faith in the dealership in my home town.

Yep, exactly what you need ^^^^^ my only question is this.....is there a coolant reservoir out there that does not have the nipple for the carb heater?

Sweet avatar. dunno about the coolant bottle, the 440 has a different PN though. Excellent pics Premix setup, mirror image of mine, except a little cleaner.

The air temp sensor wires will need to be extended due to MPEM relocate.

Thanks I'm kinda fond of my avatar too....lol. I did not know that about the air temp sensor wires for the HO, on the 07 the ECM drops right in, nothing to change on the harness.

so let me get this straight, im a little confused. u can take the oil pump off and block it off with a plate and then u just mix your oil into the fuel.. my questions r is 1. does it affect the performance of the engine 2. how does it keep the bearings lubricated so that there is no crank problems/failures.

thanks for the help/ advise

Anybody know what 40:1 is per gallon of gas.
I hate math :face-icon-small-hap

This is simple...

* 1 Gallon twostroke oil / 40 Gallon gas = 2,5 % oil

* 0,5 Gallon twostroke oil / 20 Gallon gas = 2,5 % oil

* 0,25 Gallon twostroke oil / 10 Gallon gas = 2,5 % oil

* 0,125 Gallon twostroke oil / 5 Gallon gas = 2,5 % oil

* 0,0625 Gallon twostroke oil / 2,5 Gallon gas = 2,5 % oil

This will give you a nice blend or mix of Oil / Gas that your sled will run just fine on !

So let me get this straight, im a little confused.
You can take the oil pump off and block it off with a plate and then you just mix your oil into the fuel.
My questions...
* 1. Does it affect the performance of the engine ?
* 2. How does it keep the bearings lubricated so that there is no crank problems/failures ?

1. No.
2. Their are only a total of 6 bearings in the Rotax Serie-III engine that are Oil lubricated...
* the crank bearings on the inside of the connecting rod
* the piston pin roller bearing
* the big roller bearing on the connecting rod

The rest of the bearings on the crankshaft is Grease lubricated since those bearings are sealed and filled with grease.

In my book the bearing in fact gets better lubrication running oil/gas mix compared to Oil Injection,
This since the oil is already in the fuel you never get short of oil film anywhere in the engine

If you have tweaked the jetting in the carbs on your sled to the bones you should jet it a little fatter when you run oil/fuel mix.
In other cases just ride it like you stole it :face-icon-small-win
