--I was under the impression that the 2017 and early build 2016's had a 43 degree helix...but it

seems it may be 48 degree helix...in which case do I need to send it back?

The 2016 limited option that is a 66-49 is the low altitude 0-3000' calibration.

Regarding Mountain Cat helix angles, I was talking with my dealer about it the other day actually and according to him CAT hasn't said yes about doing a different helix angle yet for the Mountain Cats and it is Still too early to tell on the Mountain Cat Builds.

At 9000 - 11000 ft altitude , general consesus is 43 deg angle helix works best....with a stiffer secondary spring and a stiffer primary spring...and gearing with 7 tooth or just straight up 8 tooth drivers

What does this mean? Tight?

:face-icon-small-blu bad English.

Old style secondary working great with 42-36 degrees. I mean, how 48 degree can work because angle is over 10 degrees steeper? :face-icon-small-hap

Personally after spending over 400 miles this spring on two different 17' MC's, I think I'd leave the secondary alone for where I ride. Dropped the primary weight and changed the primary spring, was pretty happy with the results. But, it's going to depends a lot on where you ride, elevation, mods, snow conditions and mostly on personal preference.

A change in helix diameter needs a different angle to get the same shift characteristics since the lever arm ratios change between the belt and the jackshaft.

Clutching

I spent a lot of time testing last year on the 16le. Between the 2 new clutch I found both need tweaking. The same is going to be the case in the 17 mountain cat with one exception I will not need to regear the 17.

I found the primary weights was ones thing I didn't like. Changed them and that helped lots. The secondary worked good just felt like there was more there and I was right.
