I got a 1997 arctic cat powder special 580 efi. when i bought it the stator was gone so i bought a new one from RM stator then put it in and started up after a few pulls and now i rode the sled 4 times and everytime i stopped and opened the hood there was smoke coming out of the timing check slot so i guess the stator was smoking. It was running then i shut it off and tried to start it again and wouldnt start so i checked the plugs for spark and no spark (tried brand new plugs still nothing). i would like to know whats causing the stator to heat up so much and smoke and stop working. had maybe 80 km on the new stator.
