We have some killer areas. Come down and stay a couple of days. We will take the big 500 two strokers out and cover some country. That would be a cool combo, a CR and a KX 500. The woods would sound good!

APT smart carb
Did you ever get your APT smart carb? I am wanting to get one for my cr500 project and am curious if the cast 38mm is big enough or if I should pay $400 more and get the 40mm billet one. I don't want to be cheap and end up wishing I had gone all out, but $400 is $400.

Hey SB, how many hp you think Adam did get out of your rebuilt and what clutch did you put on?
I think Adam says 65+ at the sprocket. He says a lot of porters claim 75-85hp which I believe he said was BS. His numbers are realistic he says. I know he has made some 100hp bikes for salt flat racing. Some of his motors turn at 11-12,000rpm which is insane.
I just spoke with him and he says the Smart carb runs ****in superb on a 500 he just put together. That says a lot. I think he was a little skeptical at first. I was going to try mine out today but due to the flooding in Calgary the track is closed.
I have a 250 type clutch setup. Adam machined a Barnett basket with a Hinson inner and a Barnett pressure plate. Works real nice and is a easy pull for a cable bike. I believe I used a EBC set of plates. The transmission has all new bearings and parts so it shift like a fine German clock lol

Thanks for your intel SB. I'll be sending my motor to Adam for my built project. I'm picking a 2000 cr500 (w/FMF fatty:face-icon-small-ton) tomorrow and will start to dismantle it soon. Your built project is an inspiration and a motivation for me but mine will be a fully dedicated snowbike when I'm done.

I would have trouble getting that thing anywhere near dirt since on the first tip-over I would probably want to scream for 10 minutes straight. Beautiful bike man... almost too nice!

Once again, VERY nice. We should definitely hook up this winter and give the four stroke guys a few lines to try to follow. One ?, you gonna run a carb heater?

I'm so in on that CD ! I have a KTM carb heater going into my Smartcarb ! I have the gearing and thermostats all figured ! Will have more pics this next week.
