Does anyone have any info on Jetting for the PSI pipes on a red head 700 triple? now that PSI is no more, I'm finding it hard to get any info. Currently I'm running 137.5 mains and it's too rich. I ride from 2500ft. to around 8000ft. in the mountains. Just added a set of trail ported cylinders and dropping the mains to 135 to see if that will help.

700 PSI

I ran 130 mains and 57.5 pilots. Ran great. Gutted the air box and ran 142.5 and it still ran great. That was at 10k ft.

Thanks. These engines seem really forgiving when it comes to jetting. Mine was pretty rich, pistons were washed down when I pulled the head. Maybe I'll just leave the 135 mains in then and see how it works. Did you notice any difference in power with the 140's?

I have been running 132.5 sence '97 with no issues. @ 8000 to 10000 ft. Alot of others around here are at 135. THey all think I am crazy @ 132.5. But I can say this I would not want to be at 130 when it gets really cold.

I have this old Power Inc chart it might give you an idea. Maybe / maybe not.

Thanks for the chart, I'm sure it will be helpful. I don't know how much different the PSI pipes are compared to power inc. but it should give me a starting point anyway. How is your plug color/piston wash?

Power Inc End dumps and PSIs jetted pretty simliar. They are both a little tighter than the Benders. 135s with the air box mod at that altitude should be close. Did you remove a layer of head gasket? And, the PSIs, make sure you are spinning about 9000 to 9100 rpm at that altitude.

Edited cause I spelled "power inc"- "powder inc". - DOH!!

My tuning notes show I once had a strong running 700 mm jetted to these specs:
PSI's stock engine 3-6000'
135 M
55 P
Pilot screw 2 turns
Needles middle clip both washers on top
air shelf mod

Thanks for the info guys. I should be good with 135 mains then. I just installed a set of ported cylinders, new pistons/rings and a peak head with the 20cc domes, fired it up last night and it sounds good, have to take it for a test ride, wish there was some more snow in the valley for that, not crazy about test riding far from home. I think it'll be alright though.

Here's a better shot of the pistons. BTW I got in touch with Bruce, he's in Utah now. He said these pipes use stock jetting and there was 2 types for the Yami 700 triple. One mountain style that should be at 8600RPM and one sea level that should rev to 9100RPM looks like I've got the sea level type.

Right was the mag side, it looks the closest. Same size jets all the way across though. I hear the Peak head cools better, so you don't have to run rich on the PTO, guess I'll see.

With the pipes, you dont have to stagger the jetting. It was just for the stock pipes. :) You are ok at your jetting there, if that is your wash. Plenty safe anyways. Do you know who ported those cyliners? There is a HUGE difference in decent porting, to REALLY good porting. They take a ton of work.

A guy out around Merritt did the porting. They took apart an engine built by a well known guy, can't remember the name, and copied his work. It's making more power, I'm almost too lean down here (2500ft. approx) but should be fine at altitude, plugs are light brown. I think 136.3 mains would be perfect but you can only get that size from the stealership and they charge a premium. It's revving high now, so I'm just working on clutch weights right now, looking for a 8DN-00 but their discontinued.

They be pricey but they are cheeper then new pistons and rings. To me a little rich in one thing but lean can get expensive.
