I need a new hood for my 02 700 should I buy a replacement or just buy a lightweight lexan hood which would be better in the long run?

dependss obviously the lexan is a better choice for mountain riding but it requires alot more work to get all of your factory electrical installed back on.

if you plan on gutting all of tthat its the way to go.

My old arctic cat had a lightweight hood on it and what pile. It would crack if the wind blew hard. All I had in it was the tach, and some vents so it was not due to weight.

I would look to the Brtech thrasher hood, they are cheap ( around 150 ) and are more of an ABS , like belly pan plastic. They are black but should hold up pretty well compaired to stock and way bettet then the lexan. Here is a link for there zx hoods, thrasher is at the verry bottom.

try mountain fit hoods out of washington. here's the link. give him a call, the ones he has now are polycarbonate, but they are just getting a new type built too.
