Well, I finally caughed up and ordered a Impulse turbo kit for my 2006 Apex. I cant wait to start the install. After talking to Paul I'm going to be running the headshim, 15 lbs of boost on 50/50 with the prologger. Going from nearly stock to an easy 250-275 hp is going to be fun. Just curious who else is running the impulse kit and loving it.

Ya I can't wait. From your vids it looks like your running an aftermarket hood. Is there anyway to make the stock hood work with that big intercooler?

Good choice, you wont be disappointed!Great guys to deal with and ride with.Did you get the 2860 or 2871?I would go with the 2871 for the couple extra $$. Zeb isn't Luke running the stock hood on his? I'm certain he is.

Ya, Luke is running the stock hood on his. So is Travis (skibumm). You have to do a little triming but the stock hood works fine. Mine is a Mounain fit hood that I got from xxxmods that I obviously had to trim up quite a bit. I'm selling it for cheap if anyone is intrested:beer;.

I honestly don't know if you can run the headlight or not. I just got one of those cyclopse helmet lights for an emergency because I don't ride at night unless someone breaks down;)

I'm going to try and run the stock hood no headlight. I think its the cleanest aT to go besides a aftermarket hood. I will have to ask Paul on the turbo choice. Zeb how much boost are you pushing and did you go rods and pistons?

I have Carillo/Je rods/pistons. I typically run 18 psi day in and day out. At the end of this year I turned it up to 22 a couple times. Paul is going to tell you to run the 2860rs for 15 psi.

At what point does a guy need to go rods and pistons? Should I be ok running 15 psi on the stock motor? I don't have a problem running race gas if needed.

Your fine to run 50/50 up to 15 psi. Anything over that I would run straight race fuel. With a head shim I would run up to 19 psi or so with straight race gas. Anything over that I would do rods/pistons. It's all about detonation, if you run straight C16 I would run 23 psi on a stock motor with a head shim. Stock rods and pistons will handle power as long as you don't detonate. That's the difference with a built motor if your running high boost and detonate a little bit it will hold together, but at high boost with stock rods and you get detonation, either the rod bolts will snap or the rod it's self will.

are the newest apex kits getting the standalone fuel system like the nytros are for this year or is it still the PL box?

As of last week when I ordered mine it is still the PL box. Paul says he needs another winter to work on the apex stand alone system. I think he spent most of this last winter dialing in the nytro kit....rightfully so, since he thinks he already has 100 nytro kit orders!

Yeah thats what I figured, its kinda hard to produce new parts for a sled that has taken a backseat to the newest latest greatest! Not that the apex is bad by anymeans IMO. Would be sweet though!!!

Dang Yamaha had to come out with the dang Nytro and now the Apex is the red-headed step child. haha I'd be willing to drop some money on a standalone Impulse setup for my Apex as well if it comes out soon.

My apex is pretty much done. The kit goes together nice and is very nice stuff. The intercooler was tough to get on! lol But i dont think it can ever blow off having the side plates and torque arm. I went with the race kit and did... je pistons, falocon rods, porting, cam, head studs and valve springs. im thinking it will flat out rip!:face-icon-small-hap Hope to get out Tuesday for the first ride with it.
