I wanted to give an update on my WP AER 48 forks.
As many have experienced, mine collapsed on my second ride. I am lucky to have a great WP specialist down the street. Kreft Suspension moved to Bend this last summer. I have had great experience with them working on my dirt stuff.
Adam has had a set of AER 48 forks for over a year and put some serious testing and R&D to improving them. When my forks collapsed, he replaced the factory x-ring seal with a traditional O-ring. That seal held through numerous Cold days of riding including some sun zero days.
Recently I brought the forks back for a revalve as I was having to run really high pressure to keep from bottoming. He installed an updated Seal, Different grease, and a few other seals. The valving was bumped up aggressively as I plan only to use my 450sxf as a snowbike.
I am happy to report that I run 20psi less now and the damping is spot on for the spring rate. Pinning it through the whoops is comfy and settled. I am able to use full travel without any harsh bottoming. The bikes handling has improved as the front end sags just right, increasing ski pressure. When I was running around 200 psi to keep from bottoming, the front end sat way to high and naturally rode like a pogo stick.
The revalve and seals were under $300. Getting to watch my fork on the magnetic dyno was really fun. Adam Kreft is very knowledgeable and professional. He is very impressed with the AER 48 forks and now has multiple tuning packages.
Just thought people should hear about a positive turn around from a person with AER forks.
