I just picked up a 2010 Summit X 800 and need to get a spare belt. What belt number do I get and how much should it cost ? there is a dealer having a sale tonight and if he has a good price on them I might get a couple, but I don't know what a good price on them would be this is my 1st XP.

Just to promote confusion....we run the Doo -288 belt with our clutching. Less $$ and more power to the snow than the -377 in our testing....still super durable. :beer;:)

With all the shopping online research I've done paying anything over $110.00 (including shipping) for the 377 belt your paying to much. The MSRP on the 288 might be less but its harder to find at that price...

Started with the 166 in 08....moved to the 377 last year and will be trying the 288 on Winter Brew's suggestion. Can't wait to try out the new clutch kit.

Just wondering where your getting belts for that price.
Thanks.

Anybody try a ultimax belt on their o9 xp i think that i am going to give them a try not wanting to spend 150 on a belt when i can get an ultimax for around 100 with a warranty if it fails send it back for refund.

I would recommend against it. They are good belts to the point when they come apart. No warning, no pitched strings, no hot belt smell.....just an explosion and about 100 pieces of belt  I know of 2 cranks locally that were lost due to an aftermarket belt exploding and the overrev/shock involved. Is the 288 a softer compound vs 377?

The 288 is the "Race Belt". It IS softer but will grip the clutch face better.

The 377 was made for mountain use and is a few mm smaller which will give you more adjustment for deflection as is wears. It is harder, stronger and more durable.

This isnt relevant to an Xp, but One day RKT and I ran a 166 Doo belt, 288 race belt, and a gates extreme on my 05' and an 07 he had.

the 166 held rpms and pulled hard up the superbowl or whatever the hill is called. the 288 and the gates held great, almost identical to the 166 till about somewhere between 30% and 40% up mountain. then went blaaaawww and lost 300-500 rpms. Both did that almost at the same spot.

Same heavy wet slushy snow, Only change was the belts. Went back to the 166 belt and all was well again.

The 288 is a very durable belt.

Again, not an xp, but i found the results interesting.

377 and 288 belts take less pin weight than a 166 or 283(?). Must be more grip or something.
