600RR looking for some help with clutching

Currently running stock set up. I'm putting a 121" 1 3/4 track on it im just wondering how to get this thing to run a little better. It currently has pretty good pull off the line but once it gets around 20 to 30 it falls flat on its face. It peaks at 8000 to 8200rpms. I dont want a clutch spring that engages wicked high the sled already is terrible for traction. I'm just wondering if anyone has had any success with set ups or anything. i plan on converting it to a 660 next year, but for this year i'm just looking for some help.

EPI maroon spring with 10-60s is a good combo. If you want a harder holeshot go with the EPI gold and 10-62s,thats what I run and I like it. Running the 1 3/4 SnoX track with 96 studs, hooks up good enough to drag the back bumper on the ground.

Alright thanks does changing the secondary spring actually do anything for performance or not noticeable enough to do it. And have you done anything to your gearing??? Thanks

Anybody know of a tunnel ext. for the RR that doesn't need to be modified for the rear cooler, in other words a 600RR specific extention?

P.S. Sorry for the highjack :)

Sledmax, what gearing are you running with this setup? I use the gold and 62's and pull about 8000rpm, I like it but like you said yours hooks up well enough to drag the bumper but mine doesnt at all. BTW Ive tried everything possible to bring the r's back up with no luck getting to 8300

21/43 gearing with the 76 pitch chain. I was pulling around 8150-8200RPMs last year. I am at work and dont have youtube or I would post a link of it running with that setup. Look up 07laramie on youtube and you will find it.

I have the 1.75 SnoX track with 96 studs,my rear suspension is setup with the stock race dept settings. When I first bought the sled it would hardly pull the skis up,dropped 8 jet sizes, clutched it and now it runs like a different sled.

Here is the link to the vid so others interested do not have to look it up.

Sounds like my setup is the same as yours except im running 390 mains instead of 380's. The only idea I have left is that my neils pipe is not getting hot enough as I dont have it wrapped or ceramic coated. I could prob lose 200 rpms there

I am now running a 66-44-46ER Helix with a EPI 160-240 sec spring, seems to work better all around.

I am also now running 370 main jets and still only hitting 1180 on my EGTs at WOT. I cant believe how far you can drop the main jets on these.

Im running the same in the sec but Id like to try those 370's! I bet theres alot to gain there in dropping 2 jet sizes. May pick up 100-150rpm with that move

If nothing else your fuel mileage will noticeably improve. Do some plug/wash checks to make sure your not to lean if you do the 370s,every motor seems to react a little different so its better to be safe then sorry. My sled runs the leanest at 7000RPMs,if I hold it there I can get up to 1250 on the EGTs.
