Please forgive my inexperience (pun intended), but can someone please explain the tags? They are new too?

Think of TAGS as KEYWORDS for the Search Engine!

Lets say your actually writing a serious thread, with some real content it in that you want to make sure people will be able to find in the future.

if you take the time to think about what the KEY WORDS are that best describe what someone else might be searching for, then those are TAGS.

Well, there are some very "interesting" keywords attached. Especially under the black "tags" link.

How are the tags assigned?

In my opinion, TAGS are worthless; only serving to confuse people looking for information. They are essentially just a crippled version of the search function.

Why wouldn't someone just enter the appropriate KEYWORDS into the search engine? Because they don't know how.

Just write a tutorial on how to do an advanced search and post it in a FAQ. Simple and effective. How many times do you have to hear it before you get it? Don't make the forum more complicated than it has to be. Please.
