This seems to be a major pain for people to find out where they can get fuel.

I know of a few places so I will start this off by listing them. If you know of anywhere else please chime in. I'll update my post with more stations as we find out about them. Please do not post the station unless you know for sure. Unless you talk to the person that orders the fuel, assume the fuel you are getting is oxygenated. Even if they do not have a sticker on the pump, it does not mean it is safe.

We spoke to Alan at Spirit Lake Polaris in Grand Lake about this a fewmonths ago. He said that is all they are getting up in the mountains now is oxygenated fuel. He suggested rejetting to accomodate the lean running conditions caused by the fuel. Also on the Poos, there is a switch on the sleds to run premium or regular fuel. We switched to the regular fuel setting, and we are running fine.

For the Lakewood Folk... Brad's Conaco on Union and Mississippi is where I get fuel. Ethanol free gas. He's usually about 20 cents more than anyone else, but it's ethanol free.

I don't know about this for a fact, as I cannot get a straight answer but I know that the Kum and Go in Kremmling has bad fuel. The people that work there just pick up the phone and call corporate when fuel levels run low. Corporate calls in the order.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't it a law to have ethanol in all Colorado gas from October to March?

I believe that is only on the Front Range where there are regulated emission standards. We aren't regulated up here, hence the fact that we don't have to have our vehicles checked for emissions once a year.

In Colorado, the oxygenated fuels program has remained a winter CO only program. All of the automotive fuel sold in the Colorado Front Range area was required to contain 1.5% oxygen by weight from January 1 through February 28, 1988. During this first year the oxygenate requirements were met with about 95% of the fuel sold being an 8% by volume mixture of MTBE and gasoline. The remainder of the fuel sold was a 10% by volume blend of ethanol and gasoline (2). In each subsequent year the program required motor vehicle fuels to be oxygenated during the winter months, November through February. The oxygen content requirement has been steadily increasing while the additive used has gradually shifted from largely MTBE to largely ethanol blended fuels (3). During the winter of 1997-1998, nearly all of the fuel being sold is blended with ethanol at 10% by volume. This program is modeled by MOBILE 5A to reduce the emissions of carbon monoxide from motor vehicles in the Denver area by about 30% (3). The average oxygen content of the fuel being sold is required to exceed 3.1% by weight. In recent years, the winter program has been shortened to end on February 21, 1997 and on February 7, 1998 (4).

I have a friend whom drives truck. He hauls fuel once a day, from Denver to Vail. Of course Kremmling is not Vail but that area gets Denver fuels.

The Kremmling suppliers come from somewhere around Craig and Steamboat, with the exception of Kum and Go. They get theirs from Denver, but all Kum and Go stores use the same supplier.

I heard Vern's in Laporte had premium-non oxy. A rep from there came on here and said so. If your on the way to the snowies or over Cameron it's on the way. Race fuel can be had at Team Petroleum in FC. I usually get mine in Walden, but I wonder about the quality and weather it's non oxy or not. Might start going to Vern's if I burn up this 30 gallons of premix before the end. Unless your modded and prone to burn down (experience will tell you this!) I wouldn't worry too much, except for the peace of mind. For me, the extra cost to get "better" fuel AND mix in 25% race gas is worth the peace of mind, that my fuel is good.

Does anyone know about the Conoco in Downieville right off I-70? I always seem to end up there when I'm on my way up.

Bushy, Vern's does have non ethanol still. Have bought my gas from there all winter. They only have non ethy 91 though.....85 and 87 still contains ethanol there.

The gas station in Fort Collins on Mulberry and Taft had non ethanol gas when I was there a couple months ago...
