With all the discussion on the weight of the M1100T, I was wondering something. At the end of a day of riding at the Bullmoose, me and my riding buddies have often discussed, usually after a few cold ones, if you had the choice, would you take 10 pounds of weight off your sled OR take 10 more hp. These "discussions" have gotten heated at times believe it or not. :face-icon-small-win

I have always gone with more HP. I feel more power will compensate more for the wieght of the sled. Plus, I am a hp junkie. Some of my buddies go for the 10 pounds, weight is king to them.

So, how about you guys? You have a choice 10 pounds in weight reduction or 10 more ponies. What do you choose?

I'd go with 10 more HP.

Let's take an extreme example...

Yamaha.

HEAVY.

Turbo'd Yamaha...100hp will EASILY overcome that extra 100+ pounds.

100lbs...that's nothing though. That's a 10 year old kid sitting on your sled. 250hp instead of 150hp will make a much bigger impact on a highmark than dropping that 10 year old kid off at the bottom of the hill.

Good debate. It's all about balance. My daughters ZR120 is pretty light, but won't get the job done for anyone over 9 years old.

This is why I am such a HUGE fan of a boosted 4 stroke. At this point Yamaha obviously since until now nobody else has really wanted to play. For me...in practical terms I would much rather have the added weight of an M1100T to the Lightweight of the PC800.

I think the balance I search for will tip in the favor of the heavier 4 stroke with boost.

If you're talking about adding hp or losing weight off an 800? I would add the hp.

i think a better comparison would be the 5hp or 10lbs... use that scale and see what kind of opinions you get. at that rate it would be 50hp and 100lbs. thats a tough call.

When Im faced with a decision like that I just go with both. :face-icon-small-ton

But if I had to pick just one, add 10 HP. HP adds more to the fun factor. :face-icon-small-hap

If its 10 pounds or 10hp I would take 10hp. If it was 30 pounds or 10 hp Id take the weight loss hands down.

I lost 19 pounds with my Bmp can. Its supposedly dyno proven to not lose power, but even if it lost 3 or 4 hp, Id still take the weight loss it gave me for my style of riding all day.

All depends on the starting hp,

if its over 220hp I take the 10hp, under 220hp I take the 10hp. and add the 10lbs to the ol lady hopping it all goes to the tetons. lol
