not to hijack BD...but here is the billet front crossmember i had made too..had one on my 05 900 and had a buddy copy it for the 06 900 ad he made some for his/his dads 900s as well..so we were all happy, lol..

i talked with my buddy that made my billet one, and he believes the compfusion mounts are causing the stock crossmembers to crack...i cant think of one sled that cracked one that DIDNT have the compfusion mounts...the urethane pucks are a stronger durometer and take the vibs from the sled much better, but transfers it to the crossmember too...

with a bill crossmember, it will never be an issue for sure...(with compfusion mounts of coarse, the ONLY way to go)

Polzinhunter is gonna be making the billet cross members when he gets some time..so theres a market out there for sure.. ;)

i cant wait till we meet up Bruce...

we will have to ride each others 975s and compare the difference if any...(Carls vs HTG)

what clutching did HTG tell you to use?

Sled looks awesome! Great work for sure. It is always amazing to see ideas like fabing a 06 Fusion bulkhead to an 05 RMK tunnel and what it takes to do so. You definitely got some skills! Can't wait to see some pics on snow.

Sean just some advise, in this pic look at how the compfusion mount hangs in to the machined groove for the steering arm. on both mine and my brothers the steering arm adjuster nut was hitting it right there. i would grind that back like i did mine. just a heads up.

BIGGDAWG, what elevation do you ride at. I ride generally from 4,000 - 7,500 ft. Here's a copy of my sled's setup that I posted last season. I'm pulling much more weight than others as well as running a "softer" primary spring. After reading others' setups, I'm not sure how I get away with it, but it works awesome and consistent. I would think the 975 should be able to pull at least as aggressive clutching :

My '06 900-159 has the SLP single and reflash, custom intake and V-Force 3 reeds, as well as about 60 lbs. of weight removed. I ride between 4,000 - 7,500 feet.
My clutching is : Primary - 74g MTX weights with 2g rivet in the middle and 3g rivet in the tip - total of 79 grams, SLP black/yellow spring
(120-310 if I remember correctly).
Secondary - 70-42-.46 with Red/Pink spring.
Gearing was 19/42. With this setup, sled pulled very hard, but was still hitting the rev limiter (8050 rpm) quite often (I was told by an SLP tech I met at the Edmonton sled show that with their package, peak power on the '06 is 7,600 rpm's). I've regeared to 20/42 and although it helped out with the over-rev quite a bit, I still hit the limiter occassionally. To that end, I'm going to try a different primary spring with a 10 lb. lighter finish rate. I've also had very good belt life with this setup. Ran one belt for over two dozen rides last winter and it still looks great. As well, my clutches only got cleaned twice last winter because of belt residue.

We ride from 8000-12000 depending on where we go. w mainly go to laramie and cooke city. as a 900 we were running 11-68's. we are also running the team tied secondary and trying to get it dialed in too. i will get some mtx weights ordered, i had a set but i lost them in a flood we had here 2 years ago.

Man am i glad this project is done. all that is left is to shine her up and take it for a trip to dial in the pcv. went with a homeade intake again but upped it to 4"

BIDDGAWG, do you think you'll get enough cool air (running the stock hood) with the stock intake ? The reason I ask, is I am running a similar intake with a Diamond S mesh hood and was concerned that if I put the stock hood back on, I wouldn't get enough cold air to the engine.

this is the 3rd season i will be running this type of intake. with no issues. i went from 3 inch the last couple years to the 4 inch this year. i really want the fire n ice but just couldn't afford it this year and the 3-6 week wait just didn't cut it. you should be fine. atleast i know i wont have to worry about it plugging up with snow ;)
