This winter my buddy and I will line up for a hill climb race, and since theres no snow yet, we might as well throw our opinions out on who will get to the top of the hill first.

My bike, 2011 yz450, Yoshi pipe, hot tune from the GYTR tunner. 2013 mtnhorse ST

His bike, (it's the great pumpkin Charlie Brown) 2014 KTM 500 XC-W, stock. 2014 Mtnhorse ST.

Assume we weight the same and we will switch bikes and race too.

The stock 500 has 58hp. The stock YZ has 55. If your tuning is on par with your yosh exhaust, it should be a pretty close race, but I'm going to have to say the 500, because there is no replacement for displacement.... Unless you turbo that sh*t. lol

I'm thinking the YZF has it with ease. Quicker revs and a close ratio tranny.

Can the RMZ line up also?

I vote for the yz too. You can line up also, if you bring a monster energy girl to hold the 30 sec board.

YZ will win Forsure. We have proved it in our group many times. It comes down to gearing. And the KX gearing is better than the YZ.

Interesting for sure, I would have thought the KTM would be first up the hill due to more HP and torque with the larger engine. Time will tell, ..I will be watching for the report to see who wins, and for the pictures of the 30 second girl!!

My bet is on the KTM

The main reason is because the Yamaha has been lowered (because Yamaha's are too tall) and in doing so has altered the attack/track angle to the snow causing less footprint. Traction is important and less is less.
Sorry....just my 2 cents.

Well today we ran them off. Long uphill drag race in grass. Rolling start in first gear. First race went to the KTM by a hair. I felt getting into 5th gear didn't pull too hard. Next three races went to the yz. I stayed in fourth, didn't pull away by too much. Maybe 20'. YZ has a map currently in it for a slick track.

Gary, I'm gonna run the stock strut to start the season.
