Hey guys,

I'm purchasing a used cylinder for my 2003 Vertical Escape RMK 800.
The number on it is 3021339.

Is it compatible with the Edge 3021329 cylinder?
I'm told it is, just need to have some confirmation.

corect me if i'm wrong

when it comes to the liberty 800 motor my understanding is that their are compression release equipped cylinders and non comp release cylinders. they are interchangeable and very similar, the one other thing to watch is some cylinders have no provision for a power valve. I also recently found my self needing a cylinder for an 04 vertical escape and have been checking it out a bit

Thanks for the replys. I'm guessing your talking about the V.E.S, Variable Exhaust System. Yes, mine has that flange.

The search for the 3021329 brought up a 2002 800 XC SP.
When I search 3021339 (mine) it's compatible with the '03-'05 800 XC SP.

I'm guessing this means it won't work.

?

so whats up? I guess the cylinder your looking at has no provision for the power valve?
in the classifieds now their is a pair of slp trail ported cylinders for sale for 600 they come with the steel power valve guillotine.
I would call that a worth while upgrade because the aluminum ones break and total motors.
you would be able to get back a few hundred for your one good cylinder probably.
I considered going that way but to make 600 American would be about 900 Canadian dollars plus perhaps 60 shipping. I just can not justify almost a grand on an old sled worth maybe 1500 total

I know it sounds crazy but I filled my decomp holes with JB weld on the 339 cylinders. The decomp hole casting goes through a water jacket, so it stays relatively cool. Never had an issue in close to 2k miles. The non-decomp hole cylinders obviously make a touch more compression. SLP used to fill them and said it gained around 150rpm if all else stayed the same (1-2 horsepower?).

The 2002 sleds did not have the decompression hole. You can still use the 2002 cylinders, but you will have a slightly more difficult pull start, and slightly more power. It is important to install rebuilt cylinders that have been niccosilled (re-nicced) so that they are essentially new again.
