2005 iqr Mountain mod 2003 800ves rebuild need help
Hi so I just bought a 2005 iqr mountain modded sled and wanted to learn how to work on sleds and am going to need help if anyone is interested.
Im going to put a pic of the ad so u can see what i have.

I tore into the sled and the motor was trashed bottom and top end so im having it rebuilt right now.
The motor is a 2003 800ves and its about 1,000 bucks for the whole rebuild once complete which includes new bearings on crank and new connecting rod and either nickasil or sleeves and bore on top.

I noticed the whole bottom end of the sled was flooded with oil so i think the oil injector is bad but i really would rather it did work so im going to try and fix it and mix the gas while testing. Im putting a pic of the injector the frame of the chassis was cut to make room and i think the cable draw bracket was rubbing and getting stuck open so im going to change the frame up a bit

Also i dont know anything about how to setup the clutch once i get the motor back in or what to do with the carbs once i have a fresh motor.

Another issue the motor had is the previous rebuild someone pinched the o-ring on the jug and the piston was blowing by into the coolant and the ports where the coolant flows is nasty black and has metal in it from the motor how do u clean all that metal out or do the tiny particles not really matter and flushing it good enough?

Im sure im forgetting alot and i have a million questions if anyone is interested in helping me i would appreciate it!

Note: file sizing is weird here and i could only fit the one picture

1,800 for a new motor with one year warranty im having locals look at repairing mine at it should be under 1000 and the crank specialist told me about the crank bearing issue in 2003 and he is going to fix that!
Also just to make sure what do you mean by shortblock because i found an 800 shortblock when checking polaris and I thought shortblock meant 600?

The $1800 with 1 year warranty is the shortblock. It just means a rebuilt engine from top to bottom. The higher quality builds have a warranty and typically OEM pistons.

Ski-Doo makes it really tough to go away from OEM rebuilt cranks with the high cost of bearings. $735 CAN just for the 6 main crank bearings. 3 of them are $150 a piece lol

The old 800 big block motors were great and made a lot of smiles in the IQR chassis.

Something to consider when rebuilding the motor is to upgrade the PTO crank bearing. If I remember correctly, there are two different kits for the upgraded PTO bearing one is a wider bearing and the other is wider bearing with a larger outer race.

that sled was on my IQR Facebook page a few times. I believe that is a Power Addiction Brad sled. You must have bought it from a fellow with the last name of Clarke. He asked a lot of questions about it and am not sure if he ever got it running right.

There is alot of information on the 800 bb bottom end issues and fixes on hcs. Typically it takes more than just a new crankshaft to fix it. If you don't run the oil injection you need the case to be drilled so the bearings get oil.
