Hello! We've just hit snow season and I wanted to share some information about Cardo's DMC technology and how it applies to snow riders. Communicating to fellow riders is as easy as initiating the VOX and voice recognition technology for true hands-free operation.

DMC™ is the only wireless technology for large groups of riders (up to 15) that maintains spontaneous and uninterrupted full-duplex intercom conversations, irrespective of rapid changes in the physical position of each rider in the group. The dynamic, auto-adaptive mesh technology seamlessly works to overcome any disruptions within split seconds, even if one or more participants venture out of range or drop off for any reason. These remarkable benefits become apparent even in a small group of three riders. In DMC mode, each rider acts as an autonomous hub that maintains simultaneous and independent communication links with each of the other members in the group, operating in a mesh network of riders. Whenever a rider cannot directly connect with group members beyond his intercom reach, it will re-adjust within split seconds and re-connect to the most suitable other group member in order to ‘leapfrog’ to the remote rider. Group communication, from three users or more, has no equal in the world of consumer electronics, let alone in the motorcycle industry.

The scala rider® PACKTALK™ introduces groundbreaking DMC™ (Dynamic Meshwork Communication) technology to redefine your riding experience. This new innovative technology introduces the 3rd generation of communication systems for riders, enabling your large rider groups to maintain constant connectivity through a virtual network that is both spontaneous and fluid. Each rider can randomly join, leave and re-join the others without compromising the conversation of the entire group. There is no equivalent in the entire motorcycle communication industry.
The PACKTALK incorporates DMC and Bluetooth® technologies to complement each other. The auto-adaptive nature of Cardo's DMC technology constantly forms and re-assembles itself to ensure that communication among a group of riders remains uninterrupted, irrespective of the ever-changing environment. The complementary Bluetooth mode gives you the freedom to conduct mobile calls, receive navigation instructions, listen to music (via A2DP or the built in FM radio) and connect via intercom with other Bluetooth communication systems. The PACKTALK is the world’s only system with dual communication technologies on board.
With the Cardo SmartSet app and its remote control feature, you may opt to use your smartphone or tablet to control your PACKTALK. Make intercom and phone calls, play music and radio, plus customize the settings - all from your Android or iOS mobile devices.

I saw you posted about that - we're looking forward to hearing what you have to say!

I'm not sure if you mentioned it in the post, but I would recommend updating the units to the newest v2.5 firmware for sure.

The only reason I haven't done so already is that I am trying to get some brand new helmets to use for the test. Hope to have an answer tomorrow!!:face-icon-small-hap

I would have absolutely LOVED to have had the units running this weekend when we did our first review of the new sleds.

Nice! Hey I was curious about your input on a couple things-

  • Do snow riders prefer the boom or wired mic?
  • How does the VOX feature pick up your voice with clothing covering your mouth (balaclava, masks)?
  • Have you ever come across a problem with extreme cold weather effecting the function of the PackTalk?

Absolutely not! I have my VOX sensitivity set to 'Medium' in the Smarset App. However, you have the option to raise or lower the sensitivity from within the app as well.

My other "un-named boomless brand bluetooth device" I have picks up and transmits my exhaust sound, but can't seem to transmit what I'm saying over intercom, nor can I ever hear what the other people are saying. What a jip!
