Polaris Dragon Rear Shock snapped off

Does anyone know why my rear Walker Evans shock would snap off and bend the shock shaft to an "L" shape? Just had my drive shaft bearing and drive shaft repaired and took it out for its first ride. I did not even make it out of the sno park. It snapped off where the shock body screws into the red piece that mounts to shock pivot arm on the rails. It also bent the ASM shock rods to an "L" shape and also gouged out a piece of metal on the shock body about 2 inches long and 1/2 inch wide and about 1/16 of an inch deep. Any ideas?

I took it to the dealer who repaired it and left it there for them to do the work. So they have the sled and parts. I will take pictures Tuesday morning when they open. I told them not to do any work until we find out why it snapped.

Guessing that the lower shock pivot link was upside down when the suspension was installed.

That would be my guess as well.
