I'm running a GT 2560 turbo and a efficient 4 into 1 header on my RX1 mountain. The way I have it clutched it's only getting to 9800 rpms. I'm running 17 # of boost and it runs real strong but am wondering how much more hp I would have if I clutched it to about 10800 rpm. Would it be noticeable or should I leave the r's where there at and see if this helps the longevity of the engine? Thanks, Ken....

I know my sled runs better at higher rpm's. More rpm's = more revolutions of the camshafts which obviously puts in more air to the engine. These motors are designed to run high rpm's so that's not going to effect the longevity of them. Plus thel r1 street bike motors rev at 12,500 rpms which is essentially the same motor as ours, so reving to 10,500 or 11,000 rpm's is conservative anyway.

That's what I figured too but I'm wondering if anyone might have dynoed one of these to give me an idea of how many horses I'm leaving on the table by not getting the rpms up to the max. Ken...

Mine does not run right until it has at least 10,300 RPM and it does not run it's best until it runs between 10750 and 10900 RPM.

I think you are missing out on all that the motor has to offer.

OK, thats the plan to raise my rpms. Anyone have an idea how much weight I need to take out to ad about 1000 rpms ? I'm running 8BU-OO fully loaded with some added weight by welding to them. Ken...
