What is the actual break in is it like other brands now with x miles or x hrs on sled or is it like the previous Suzuki motor nothing at all just add oil to gas and go ??

6 hours break in time oil really heavy at first and stepping down the closer you get to the 6 hour line.

no personal experience but 6k is all you will get for the first 30 miles.
help yourself out with break in time on the stand via heat cycles x 4 1 hour gone.

I have 3 hours on sled so far and only 71 miles but the sled turned 8300 rpms right out of the gate that's why I was confused on hearing there was a break in limited power and what not

The one the dynoed at DTR made 158hp at 4ish hours. They brought it back and dyoed again after the 6hrs was up. 160hp from 7800-8300 rpm. Swing!! Flattest hp curve I've ever seen on a 2-stroke.

Mine was a noticeable change at 5.5 hrs. The manual says that it is between 4-6 hrs, but that it has to be within certain rpm and TPS parameters. So each motor will technically have a unique break in time. I have flogged this sled for five rides now, and it absolutely eats up everything I can throw at it.

Break in

If these engines are like the Suzuki they will reach full potential around the 500 mile mark. It has taken that long since the introduction of nicasil cylinder linings. It does vary as heat cycles do help speed the process up. It will be interesting to see if the synthetic oil lengthens the process.

The break in is a time/load thing. The first 30 minutes of run time it will not go past 6000 rpm. Then they have heavy oil and fuel for the first 3 hours. After that, the next three hours the oil and fuel is slightly pulled back or reduced. After 6 hours there are no additional safeguards. The ECU is also monitoring load, so if you just let the sled idle here and there for 6 hours it would not be out of break in. It is looking for 6 hours at "normal" use.

You will see rpm gain at the 6 hour mark and as stated above about 300 to 400 miles they seem to settle in and run harder. We have been able to add a bit of weight after break in.

There is a rev limit of 6500 RPM for .3 hours. The engine has to be above idle for the time to start. The complete break-in is done after 6 hours.
