On my '13 XM, is 8000 the max RPM I should be getting or is that just playing it safe? At what RPM does the rev limiter start?

Yes, but if I remember the Ptek "suggested" the same max RPM but people were getting the best performance at 82 or 8300. And I think the rev limiter started at 85, 8600?

Cam... take a look at some chart style dyno sheets and look how fast power drops off after peak. Peak I see on every one I've found is 8k... if you're over revving you're pissing away power. People are often deluded by butt dynos, more rpm FEELS nasty... but falls flat it reality as it is failing to properly load the motor and puts you beyond ideal for the motor.
