is a RKT head a good bang for the buck on a M7

I have been thinking about if I should be spending more money on my 05 M7. I like the sled and will maybe just keep it after I upgrade to something newer.

Anyway this is a 05 M7 141 that has a speedwerx single pipe and intake, skinz super-q can. I have RKT secondary fix and I love it. the sled runs well as it is.
no fuel controller( run 0-4000 ft)

But when you have the mod bug you always want something more. the motor is going strong and even if I would like the RKT 800 big bore kit. I can´t justify spend more then 1/2 of what is the total worth of the sled is.

also I would need to add a fuel controller that I don´t need if a only add the head.

The head is $400 and I have been asking Kelsey(RKT) about this and he says it would be a good upgrade, but I want to hear it also from someone that is not benefiting from selling it.

Also if the motor would go, and I would go for the 800 kit, I would need to buy new head or new domes, because the 700cc head doesn´t work with the 800 kit

So the questions is should I stop spending money on the 700cc and just do the full 800cc kit if I would damage the engine.

Sorry if this is a topic that has been asked many times before, I just never have any luck with the search engine on this forum

thanks
Einar

I don't know about needing a controller for it, but a RKT head has been impressive on every sled I have had one on. I did have one on an 05 F7, but never rode it. Just on the stand, it was a noticeable difference in throttle response and how it ran though.

PM Likkerpig on this forum and he'll let you know.

He's been running it for a few years.

Had one on my 06 m7....probably the single best upgrade I did, helped with the infamous bog and much snappier at any rpm.

I had one on my M7. If you like your sled--BB it. With the head you will have to get a fuel box. If I remember, with your parts you will need to add fuel around 7800 RPM with a head. If you run your parts with the BB you will also need a fuel box. If you go with a head take your time and get a used one. Watch the classifieds on these forums. Used is 1/2 the price and you can still ride until you get one.

Kelsey said that I didn,t need a fuel box
If I would get a used one, what compression would I need (0-4000ft)

13 to 1 I believe. I have run a 15 to 1 in the mountains. Never ran it without . I also ran on one an 800 mc besides the m7. Usually you have to take fuel away, so no need for a programmer. Throttle response is very good on both sleds.

You don't need a controller for the head, fueling was never an issue. It is actually a more efficient combustion chamber so if anything you would pull fuel away. Lots of miles on RKT heads from 800 ft. to 11,000, no issues and no controller.

I've been runnin the rkt bb for the past few years without a controller. At 0-4k it'll be plenty of fun!!

This is from Kelsey's web site. If you use your parts you will need a fuel box....

I currently run a 14:1 ratio RKT head on my M-7 at 8,000 to 10,000 feet and i love. Pulls well and its nice that you dont need a fuel controller!
