Go straight to your Polaris Manual for your elevation, Polaris did a great job on their clutching recommendation's. My friends and I have tried several so-called improved dealer set-ups but none have ever shown than they work any better than stock on the mountain. Tune for 8,150 to 8,200 r's and it should rock.

changing your helix wont change your rpm's, changing your weights will, that's why a lot of people use adjustable weights that go thru a lot of elevation changes.

If thats the case why they say run one side for below 10k and the other for above 10k

because unless you are boosted, your sled makes 30 less hp at 9000 feet than it does at 1000. so even after you get your target rpm right, the ramp angle on your helix will need to be different. Also, alot of people prefer a shallow easy engagement in the mountains to avoid trenching, while trail riding leans towords a hard hit for drag racing and better jumping characteristics.

my advice would be to call curt at fastrax and run his clutching, head, and can combo.

quick question.

I have stock clutching, i am right on the edge of the 2 specs in the book.

been riding 7500-9000 ft on the last couple rides. last test/check i did, sled was hitting 8050 rpm max at 7800 ft. with 62gm weights and black secondary spring

should i change the clutching to the 8000-10000 ft set up: 60gm weights and black/purple secondary spring?

thx

Try the slp blue/pink primary spring. It should give you about 100 rpm on top.
