Sign up for the 2 year warranty and the PIDD is free. This is what I did when I checked my '16 Pro-RMK
PIDD is good for giving you the actual descriptions of codes being displayed.
Also shows Elevation and Direction at a glance .

I have one. I am looking at spring checking and will pass on it next time around.
You can change the screen layout and get a larger reading I believe.

I still run the old gauge in my Axys. I've been around sleds with the newer gauge. For $100 extra I would go new gauge. But for the outrageous price they want for it, I will be staying with the old gauge.
