My buddy just picked up his first sled, It's an older wedge chassis sled (89?), with an old Indy 600 motor in it. It has triple pipes with a canister (not a stinger) any guess on what they are? They are not PSI's or SLP's... It's in pretty rough shape cosmetically because the dealer rented it to some people in Togwotee and they spray painted stripes on it.. Anyhow the sled runs premix oil could anyone tell me the ratio for this sled? I've never done premix, and if anything I'd rather be a little more rich. The choke assembly is broken (just the lever and the stud) How do we replace the stud because it looks to me like the stud is encased in the little housing.. I've done the levers before just not the stud. Anyhow, the sled has a drop and roll and I believe a 141, and overall it's looks to be a good little starter for a college kid on his second year of riding :)

Just found out the pipes are Pro 5 pipes. Any body have any info on these?

I run 40:1 ratio in my sled. Run good oil and if possible use Non ethanol gas. Do you know how its jetted or clutched considering it is piped? Pipes really wake these motors up but if its not set up right then you won't have much fun. As far as the choke never had to replace one before. If its a big issue carbs are cheap for those sleds.

If you go to the polaris industries parts catalog you can pull of schematics of the sleds and from the looks of it it shouldn't be hard to change. and I'm going to assume the carbs are tuned because the previous owner put exhaust gauges on it as well as a water temp sensor. Now sorry if this question's a dumb one, but by 40:1 do you mean ounces or???

40/1 means 40 parts fuel, with one part oil.
40 gallons to one gallon.
40 ounces to one ounce.
40 litres to one liter.

As for the choke, those plastic pieces were a hot seller. It's been a while since I changed one but it's a 5 minute job. Hopefully you can just purchase the plastic T, instead of the whole choke cable. Poo dealers should have those on the shelf.

The carbs could be jetted perfect for the previous owner, but that doesn't mean it will be good for you. Are you riding in the same area as the previous owner? Make sure it is set up for your elevation.

Ok I thought so, and we found the plastic assembly online for fairly cheap. Also, (going off of assumptions,) we're riding in Casper, Wy, where we bought the sled, also where they previous owner sold the sled. I realize this doesn't tell much, but for now we are on a budget and are trying to figure it out as we go.

Are you 100% sure they are pro 5 pipes? The pro 5 pipes I ran on those triples were individual stinger pipes, not a canister.

The choke hosing just pulls apart, you can use a small flat blade screw driver to assist in getting it apart.

I ran 32:1 in my old triples... primarily because it was easy to figure... 4 ounces per 1 gallon of gas.

I think pro 5 is still in business... their number used to be 218-463-2149. They may still have setup information for those pipes.

This is the only picture I have of the pipes right now, I'll get a better one when I head over there tomorrow.

Ok, those are not SLP pipes, so the Pro 5 intel seems reasonable. I know they aren't PSI either because the PSI pipes had individual stingers.

Sheesh... all that to find out you already know what you know. :)

Also this sled has UNI filters on it, is there anything we should oil them with? The paper's on the back of the hood because we are in the process of painting it.

I never oiled my filters. Belt dust wasn't a huge deal on the triples. I just cleaned them periodically.

Those pictures bring back memories.
